I love Joe Gibbs productions, the heavy bass reminds me of the 1970s vibe so well. Reggae just does not sound like this anymore. I remember visiting my aunt as a little boy in 1978 and she had this track "Hole in the bucket" by Kojak and Liza. My aunt was ecstatic about that track. She loved rude innuendo. My mom was quite displeased with it but I quietly sat thinking that I would never hear that track again; well I'm nearly 40 and it is now available on CD. So Greensleeves continue to bring back good memories to help people who have forgotten when music made you laugh, smile, blush and of course dance!

Love and Hate is a classic collection of Dennis Brown's best songs wrapped up in a neat package.From the opening bars of the title track you instantly know that this album is something special.My personal favourite is To The Foundation, which has to be one of the best reggae songs of all time and the version on this cd is the best i've heard.

If you're looking for a brilliant reggae cd for the hot summer sun you just won't find a better one than this- it may seem a bit pricey - but hey its only money! - throw caution to the wind and buy it anyway - i guarantee you won't regret it !!

'Great Value But Not Always Great Material', 03 May 2007
The problem with this release is that, while Dennis recorded some nice sides for A&M he only recorded one album of real quality for the label. That album 'Love Will Find It's Way' is the middle set of the three complete albums this set is comprised of. The first ten tracks make up the 'Foul Play' album which was Dennis's first for the label. Though most of the tracks on it are pleasant enough only the title track and 'If I Follow My Heart' really standout. The rest of the album fails on all fronts really as it's not commercial enough for pop fans nor rootsy enough to please his established following. It's a 5 out of 10 album. 'Love Has Found It's Way' however would rate a definite 8 out of 10 as it has an altogether more commercial production and some truly great commercial lovers rock songs on it. The title track single is a delicious, mid tempo, laid back lovers rock dancer out of the top draw and Dennis sounds simply sublime on top of the rhythm. 'Why Baby Why' and 'Any Day Now' are also exquisite lovers rock, while second single 'Halfway Up, Halfway Down' a good danceable and catchy reggae dancer. The rest of the album hangs together well and makes for a pretty good listen throughout too. Sadly, the last album featured here 'The Prophet Rides Again' (tracks 21-30) serves to prove that most of Dennis's best songs obviously made it onto the 'Love Will Find It's Way' set. Single 'Save A little Love For Me' being a weak and timid lovers rock/pop ballad serves to highlight the lack of inspiration present best. It made little impact on release in the U.K despite the momentum the previous two minor hit singles (LWFIW and HUHD) had created and after the 'Prophet' album Dennis was dropped from the label. 'Prophet' is a 6 out of ten album basically, a mark ill fitting a man who most certainly deserved his title of the 'Crown Prince Of Reggae'. If you don't already own the 'Love Will Find It's Way' album you could consider this, if you do I would give it a miss.
