Product Description
Although not the most outstanding DJ of his era, lacking U-Roy's striking vocal presence and I-Roy's lyrical creativity, as MPLA shows, Tappa Zukie nonetheless recorded some good tunes in the late 70s before turning his attention full time to producing other artists. Originally recorded on his own Stars label, most of his best songs are collected here. Underpinned by solid Bunny Lee and Yabby You rhythms, Tappa's mellow chants bounce along with considerable freshness and vitality. No boundaries are broken on this album, but Tappa's excellent production skills and tuneful toasting over such classic tracks as Horace Andy's Skylarking ("Stop The Gun Shooting") and Burning Spear's Creation Rebel ("Ital Pot") certainly make this an accessible and pleasant rock steady album to listen to. --Duncan Thomson

Customer Reviews
great reggae, 13 Dec 2005
This record is brilliant. I did not know anything about Tapper Zukie it was the cover that caught my eye.The first track is a celebration of female modeling hot pants. The third track puts the case for youth."Don't shoot the youth"." If you want to shoot someone shoot yourself" The track First street Rock celebrates the big girls. He watches them walk down the street their bottoms moving side to side like " a mango seed in an old man's mouth" It is a funny record. The music is good and the lyrics are interesting.

This is a great album. I am glad that it has been finally released on CD. All the tracks are good. In my opinion it is worth buying - just to hear She Want A Phensic aka Dangerous Woman. The Virgin Frontline label (Sounds of Reality) had some of the best reggae music. I hope more will be released by this label - so that I can give my vinyl collection a rest!
