Product Description
Since the break-up of teen duo Wham! in 1986, George Michael has constantly had to reinvent himself as a credible master of various musical styles. Ladies And Gentlemen charts this journey, from his duets with pop elite such as Aretha Franklin ("I Knew You Waiting (For Me)") and Elton John ("Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me"), to dance floor classics such as "Too Funky" and "Fastlove" and bleak, evocative numbers such as "Jesus To A Child" and "A Different Corner". The songs are arranged on two complementing discs: the slower, ballady productions are on the first disc ("for the heart"), and the more dancey, poppy numbers are on the second ("for the feet"). The compilation also includes three tracks specially recorded for the album, most notably his duet with Mary J Blige on the Stevie Wonder classic "As". --John Galilee

Oh dear oh dear . Despite all Georgee does to make himself a total laughing stock , out the good folk of this world dash to get another slab of his genius in concert or on CD's such as this . Honestly people , you can do better . Not one of these dirges sticks in the mind long enough to be forgettable , they just drift through the mind with the impact of a car insurance advert , but at least you need to have car insurance . Take it from me you really don't have to listen to George . Your ears not were designed to be used so badly .

Before Wham George Michael was `discovered` singing in a mod band by pop mogul Hughie Gadson and the rest they say is `pop history``.
Hu launched George on the road to superstardom and deserves his place in pop history.
Gadson also discovered EMF and co-wrote their hit "Your Unbelievable" - but it is George Michael we are here to talk about and this album is a tribute to rhe peter pan of pop.
Ultimate Indulgence., 27 Mar 2008
Oh George, I do love you. This is a fabulous, fantastic, wonderful album. It is full of milestone music, things that relate to various stages in my life. There are so many tracks that have such relevance for me, A Different Corner, You have been Loved, Jesus to a Child, Father Figure, Somebody to Love, to name just a few! There are no disappointing tracks on this album, nothing that I don't like, just sheer quality, perfect music and vocals. I love One More Try, it moves me to tears, in fact, I love EVERYTHING. I think that George Michael is a true genius, a true performer, a true Magician. He can make music do so many things, make you laugh, make you dance, make you cry, make you sing. It's just perfect. Like George.
Wham the Mainman, 25 Apr 2007
I danced to all these songs at Charlie Chans and the Epping Forest Country Club.
George is the mainman and Faith will always remind of Julie Taylor the exotic go-go dancer / stripper at The Sir John Franklin.
Every track is a classic and this collection is a fitting tribute to a pop legend.

I was a closet George Michael fan, secretly liking the music but frightened in case anybody found out.It was my secret. Then i watched a GM documentary and realised just how seriously George took his music.Demanding of all who worked with him in trying for perfection. His Wham period was enjoyable in bubble-gum way but this Guy was a serious musician.I decided to add to my collection with this Album and it blew me away.First time i played it ,i wanted to reach for the wine and chill right down,WOW! I played it in the car expecting it to be great, eight speakers, but i couldn't get the same feeling. At home, with the wine,it chilled me down so all problems were forgotten. This is a fantastic way to relax and unwind. The Album has duets with Aretha,Elton & Mary J Blige and a track with Queen,Ballads,Funky Pop and Dance,it's superb.GM might lead a colourful personal life, who cares?, but he is up there with the Greats if this Album is anything to go on.Buy it along with a bottle of wine and relax like never before.

Product Description
Moon Safari, the first album proper by this pair of middle-class Frenchmen, easily survives unscathed from its billing as that most deadly of sub-genres: dinner party music. True, Moon Safari, with its blatant bliss-provoking easy listening chimes, sits well beside Everything But the Girl's Walking Wounded or Portishead's Dummy, but the album is steeped in too much musical verve and gallic humour to become as dull as Chardonnay. "Sexy Boy", the first single, is a rock-out slab of electronica about a toy monkey, for instance--hardly the thing to discuss in polite society. This album's highs come with their two marriages with the contributing vocals of American Beth Hirsch. "All I Need" and "You Make It Easy" are shockingly successful, with Hirsch bringing gravitas and sincerity, flagging the album with strong emotional pointers in the midst of their musical adventures. If you didn't know, you'd think her words were sampled from a lost jazz classic--that's how good this record sounds. --Charlie Porter

One of my all time favourite albums. This will be a classic of the French chill-out genre for decades to come. Buy it!
SexyBoySexyCock, 16 Aug 2008
Detached, hypnotic, and retro (much like Pink Floyd's song "Breathe" from the Dark Side Of The Moon--and yet not Pink Floyd) is how I would describe the sound of this debut CD. Released in 1988, Moon Safari is the first release from the Surrender Monkeys-French electronica duo Air, consisting of Nicolas Godingodiva and Jean-Benoît Dunckelly. (The name "Air" is an acronym for Amour, Imagination, Rêve -- How life changing is that !)
Not only is Air's music a chillout blend of Love, Imagination, and Dreams, but it is a light blend of psychedelic musical influences (including Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, and Jean Michel Jarre and other obscure retro stuff). Standout Moon Safari tracks include "Sexy Boy," "Kelly Watch the Stars," and "All I Need." (Yes, you've heard the song "La Femme D'argent" in a L'Oreal Paris ad, the song "Sexy BoySexyC0ck" in the TV series Queer as Folk, and the song "All I Need" in the TV series Felicity.) The complete album setlist includes:
1. La Femme D'argent (7:11)
2. Sexy Boy (4:58)
3. All I Need (4:28)
4. Kelly Watch The Stars (3:45)
5. Talisman (4:16)
6. Remember (2:34)
7. You Make It Easy (4:00)
8. Ce Matin LÃ (3:39)
9. New Star In The Sky (5:40)
10. Le Voyage De Pénélope (3:10)
Dr Gonzo Clarke : 7/10.
I wore out my 1st Air Moon Safari CD.........., 29 Jun 2008
............and am purchasing replacement because I couldn't live without it. Play it any time of day. If I play it after bedtime reading to my 6yr old, without a doubt, they'll be asleep before the CD finishes! This album can lift you, relax you, whatever you need, it can do it. Definately in my top 10 and I haven't changed my mind since that first Moon Safari CD purchased many years ago!
A few tracks are ok, 22 Jun 2008
I bought this because it had so many good reviews, also i like this genre of music however i don't understand what all the fuss is about. It's not bad but certainly not outstanding or original. There's much better albums around.
Air - Moon Safari, 13 May 2007
A great album. a worthy buy. This album has one of my top 10 fav tracks of all time "All I Need". All I Need has great sounds and is very simple format but carries accross a great feeling.
The last review a little harsh... if you like easy going ambient french sounds and you have familurised yourself with Airs previous work then you wont be bored. I like this album and have it on CD and vinyl.

The name Frank Sinatra is synonymous with with Jazz, Swing and Orchestral sound of music. He had an unmatched vocal talent and his music will always be viewed as legendary. It's hard to believe it's just over 10 years since we unfortunately lost this musical great. The Platinum collection compiles all of his classic greats that anyone and everyone would recognise instantly. His music wasn't made in the same way as todays standards. It wasn't released album by album, and you didn't need crazy looking music videos in order to get people to pay attention. It was music created solely to be performed in front of small audiences at such places like the legendary Copacabana night club. It wasn't music created with cheap gimmicks or a fancy look, it was music. Music from the heart and soul. This is what makes Sinatra the greatest vocalist in history.
Since the days of Sinatra and the Rat Pack, music has slowly gone down hill in regards to vocal ability. With the odd exceptions of course. We needn't fret though, as the Platinum collection gives us the opportunity to relive the Sinatra sound whenever we need to relax.
This is the definitive collection with the classics like "Come Fly With Me" "Love and Marriage" "You Make Me Feel So Young" and "Witchcraft." There's no denying the talent of Sinatra and there's no way you can dismiss this album. If you have even an ounce of respect for Sinatra or that generation of music you will all buy it. The Voice, 09 Jul 2008
I have been listening to Sinatra for about 50 years and I still LISTEN to him and I still occasionally find something new in the way he treats a song. I saw him in concert four times! His phrasing and his ability to sing so much with a single breath ( he swam underwater to improve this )were tools that he used with such effect. There have been many people who emulated him but no-one who came anywhere near him, as this collection shows very plainly. Masterly Compilation, 02 Jul 2006
A superb compilation. I have a good few Sinatra albums but none of the other compilations I have comes near this.
It has some of the finest records he ever made, across three, truly marvellous CDs. If you buy this, I cannot see how you could not love it.
Get this, then treat yourself to "Songs For Swinging Lovers " & "In The Wee Small Hours" (two superbly crafted records) & you'll be sorted.
A truly far reaching & expansive compilation. Excellent value, considering the quality of the music.
They really don't make them like this any more - let's face it, there was only one Frank Sinatra - buy this & you'll see why. Definitive Frank, 25 Feb 2005
The best Frank collection ever. They're all here - "I've got you under my skin", "Chicago", "It was just one of those things". How Capitol managed to get the best from Frank at a time when his career appeared to be over is one of popular musics great stories. The absolute and essential definitve Frank Sinatra collection.
The Best Sinatra Album Ever, 21 Jan 2005
If you could collect sinatra's best works and put them in an album, you'd end up with the platinum collection. I can't stress enough how good this album is. Can't stop listening (and singing along) to it regardless of how many times I hear it. A must have for all sinatra fans.

Product Description
Welsh chanteuse, Shirley Bassey's This is My Life-The Greatest Hits came hot on the heels of her critically acclaimed remix album, Diamonds Are Forever . This Is My Life is a celebration of her 40-year-long career as Britain's classiest female icon/singer. Totally individual, Bassey came to most people's attention with her classic 1960s and 1970s James Bond themes "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Moonraker", written by soundtrack composer par excellence, John Barry. These songs were probably her greatest achievement but as this 22-track disc reveals, Bassey's repertoire was always as versatile as her glorious, instantly recognisable voice. Digitally re-mastered, this album is a musical autobiography, stretching from "I Who Have Nothing" produced by George Martin in 1961 through to her 1990s collaboration "History Repeating" with big beat combo The Propellerheads. The post-modern irony-mongers among us will pass Bassey off as over-produced cool kitsch but as dazzling tune follows dazzling tune you will know they are far off the mark. Working the singles market as adeptly as the Americans, Bassey's hits include the blues of Jean Jacques Brel's "If You Go Away", The Door's "Light My Fire", the 60s soul of Leiber/Stoller's "I Who Have Nothing" and show tunes like "Big Spender". Shirley Bassey was an amazing, highly emotive stylist and we may never see her like again. --Olivia Ferenczi

If you could collect sinatra's best works and put them in an album, you'd end up with the platinum collection. I can't stress enough how good this album is. Can't stop listening (and singing along) to it regardless of how many times I hear it. A must have for all sinatra fans.
One of the best, 17 Jan 2007
This CD gave my partner and I what we now affectionately call 'our song' - its 'Never, never, never' and means a great deal to us both. The rest of the CD is a sublime listening experience, sending shivers down your spine and making you laugh and cry. A wonderful collection of iconically sung masterpieces. Thank you Shirl.
This a fantastic collection of Shirley Bassey clasics, 06 Oct 2003
I recently became interested in Shirley Bassey through a friend. Being only 15 I hadn't really heard much about Shirley Bassey but as I listened to her music I began to love her!!!!! Her voice is so powerfull; she can really blast out a true masterpiece. I bought this album and recomend it to enyone who is an enormous fan of Shirley Bassey. It includes many old favourite such as "Big Spender", "AS I love You", "Goldfinger" and my personal favourite, "This Is My Life". It is a must buy!!
A WELSH PERSPECTIVE, 09 Mar 2002
As a long time fan, having most things Shirley I avoided this CD at first. However the nice art work and good track selection finally persuaded me. As I thought, all the tracks have at some point been previously released on both vinyl&CD, with the exception of (Surprise) "Big Spender" which is obviously an out-take from the original 1967 sessions- it is quite different from the single version and issued on the "And We Were Lovers" LP and makes this a very good excuse for buying this CD for fans (which for the casual buyer is about the best SB CD on the market).
GREAT TO HAVE THE HITS ON 1 CD, 14 Jul 2001
AS A DAME SHIRLEY CONNOISSEUR, IT WAS A GREAT THRILL TO HEAR A DIFFERNET TAKE ON AS I LOVE YOU. I HAVE NEVER FOUND THAT VERSION ANYWHERE IN BRITAIN BEFORE:) ALL THE OTHERS I HAVE ON MANY DIFFERENT FORMATS. WELL WORTH IT, IF YOU WANT ALL THE BIG DRAMA SONGS ON 1 CD, PUT IT ON AND GET YOUR FEATHERS OUT AND BELT THE WORLD IN THE *****.
Bassey at her very best!, 01 Dec 2000
22 tracks all digitally re-mastered including three Bond themes "Goldfinger" "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Moonraker". Other standout tracks are "Light My Fire" and "The Greatest Performance Of My Life". Fans may have many of these tracks on cd already, but I can recommend this cd for the excellent sound quality, fantastic booklet with amazing new pictures of Dame Shirley and its the only Bassey cd where you will find History Repeating!.

"Well I guess it would be nice, if I could touch your body..." Given George Michael's restroom high jinks in early 1998, those words from "Faith" sound pretty funny, but they sounded fresh and exciting blasting out of car radios in 1987. Michael's stunning solo debut (after four years in the lightweight British duo Wham!) sold seven million copies and yielded a plehora of hits. Some of those were among the decade's best pop, including the hiccuping title track, the heartfelt ballad "Father Figure" and the wicked R&B groove of "I Want Your Sex". Unlike so much 1980s treacle, this album hold ups surprisingly well--even if Michael hasn't always done so himself. --Michael Ruby

george the terrible, 05 Nov 2008
Oh dear oh dear . Despite all Georgee does to make himself a total laughing stock , out the good folk of this world dash to get another slab of his genius in concert or on CD's such as this . Honestly people , you can do better . Not one of these dirges sticks in the mind long enough to be forgettable , they just drift through the mind with the impact of a car insurance advert , but at least you need to have car insurance . Take it from me you really don't have to listen to George . Your ears not were designed to be used so badly . Wham Magic Man, 13 Sep 2008
Bottle of wine required, chill guaranteed but don't drive !, 03 Feb 2007
Excellent!, 20 Oct 2008

Great Collection Of A Forgotten Era, 20 Sep 2008

A truly far reaching & expansive compilation. Excellent value, considering the quality of the music.

Magic Memories, 28 Dec 2007
I was never a Wham fan because I am to be honest a music fan - but this album changed my mind about George Michael.
It is brilliant and brings back great memories - my girlfriend at the time ( my wife - now ex-wife ) played it non-stop and she converted me into a fan.
The Soundtrack of my Happiest Days, 27 Dec 2007
The first time I heard this album was also the year I met the LOVE OF MY LIFE who later became my wife.
I cant listen to this album without thinking of JT and thinking back to the happiest year of my life.
I would sing along to the songs and make her smile - this album like my ex will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart.
And who knows - maybe a reuion - am I talking WHAM or me and you babe???
Well - you gotta have "Faith"
The best album of 1987., 01 Nov 2007
Yes, INXS's "Kick" had a splashier debut. Yes U2's "The Jericho Tree" was given more accolades. But "Faith" really was the best album released in 1987.
This CD contains many of George Michael's hugest hits, including what I believe is the best ballad ever written, "Father Figure".
"Faith" is also the only place you can still get "I Want Your Sex". Michael has disowned this song due to his changing political beliefs, and it does not appear on any of his "best of" albums (he also refuses to play it in concert). Since "Sex" is one of his best songs ever, it's definitely a bonus to find its original form still on "Faith".
Overall, an easy five stars!
WHAM, 20 Mar 2007
I LOVE George Michael and THE single Faith is my fav song because my ex-husband would sing it to me.
George sings it better - I love everything about George and was such a fan of WHAM that I called my first car GEORGE.
This is the best record George ever made. I live in hope that one day he will cover the Frankie song If Looks Could Kill!!!
Who is Wham ?, 11 Mar 2007
Album opener Faith is a 'faith'ful tip of the hat to rockabilly, fading in cleverly with a slow church organ dirge that on closer inspection turns out to be the melody for the chorus of Wham! hit Freedom- a not-so-clandestine message that here is an artist breaking free of the shackles of teen pop stardom.
Second track Father Figure has a similar heartbeat bass line to A Different Corner, establishing a mysterious vibe, while somehow avoiding controversy despite its incestuous/religious allusions.
Bluesy slow-waltz ballad One More Try is a showcase for Michael's pleading vocals, and is in my opinion a distant relative of Aretha's Natural Woman- of course Michael dueted with her on the #1 Knew You Were Waiting; she surely inspired him. The funky Hard Day was a hit on the US Dance Chart, the syncopated Hand To Mouth lent a sceptical eye towards Reagan's trickle-down America, Look At Your Hands is decent 80s pop, Monkey was a pop #1 and dance floor filler despite its incongruent accusatory anti-drug message- and is ironic in light of Mr Michael's recent travails. Kissing A Fool is a gorgeous jazzy period piece lament to a lover lost due to the suggestions of others.
Michael has created some stunning music since this album, but all in all, Faith is the one to get for George Michael at his very best and hungriest, pre record company battles, sex controversies and drug problems. It will be great to see him on stage again!

Product Description
Just as irony is being pronounced dead, along comes the boozy holiday compilation Christmas with the Rat Pack, suggesting that rumours of its demise may be premature. Given the culture's simmering lounge mania, this collection (with its cheesy homage/rip-off Oceans 11 art direction) may be belated--but hey, punctuality was never these swingin' cats' bag, Jack. The novelty of having three of the 20th century's most notorious sinners belt, whoop and sing the praises of sleigh bells, roasting chestnuts and the virgin birth would be enough to recommend this dizzy 21-track delight, but there's actually some rewarding pop archaeology here as well. Two of the best tracks--Sammy Davis's ring-a-ding-ding romp through "Jingle Bells" and Dino's dreamy "Peace on Earth/Silent Night"--hail from a vintage, ultra-rare Reprise sampler. Sammy's typically over-the-top "Christmastime All Over the World" and Nat Cole tribute, "The Christmas Song" also make their CD debut. Dino's holiday TV specials yield more unreleased rarities: Sinatra-Martin duets of the loopy "Marshmallow World" and a touchingly tipsy take on "Auld Lang Syne" that suggests the boys have shared more than one cup of kindness. --Jerry McCulley

Smooth Christmas, 24 Oct 2008
In a vote for the best Christmas album, it's a toss up for me between this and Phil Spector's.
The voices of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are perfect for Christmas songs. They sound all warm and homely, and you can almost imagine them standing in front of a log fire singing these.
Plus, the banter between Frank, Dean and Sammy is pretty entertaining and makes the songs stand out from the usual Christmas standards.
If you get it, you'll bring it out every year and it will put a smile on your face!
Superb Christmas Album, 08 Jan 2006
If you like these 3 superb performers and if you like Christmas music, you will absolutely love this album. I have been listening to this CD in my car for the last two months and I love it. Final verdict: You will not regret buying this great CD. Enjoy.
Frank is great, Dean is pretty good, but we need more Sammy, 04 Dec 2004
Do not worry that you are going to be subjected to the sound of Peter Lawford singing Christmas songs, because "Christmas with the Rat Pack" leaves the singing to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. The Chairman of the Board and Dino get eight tracks each, with Sammy only getting three, and then the trio sing the last two songs together and live. As you would expect, this is a Christmas album for those who are looking for something a bit stronger than eggnog when they are trimming the tree. Martin gets to cover the hip seasonal songs, like "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," "Baby It's Cold Outside," and "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" while Frank does more of the religious songs, such as "The First Noel" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing." All Sammy gets to sing is "Christmas Time All Over the World," "The Christmas Song," and "Jingle Bells." Martin gets to cover "Silver Bells," "White Christmas," and "Winter Wonderland," so he makes a strong showing on this album. Sinatra, as you would expect, shines most on songs that show his finely honed vocalization skills, such as "The Christmas Waltz," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Obviously it would be nice if Sammy was thrown a few more crumbs, and you can argue the album would hang together better if they cut the couple of songs Martin sings that really sound like he is holding a martini in one hand. Fans will probably not care, but there are a few tracks that seem to run a bit more against the grain than some of the others, even though Martin milks them for all they are worth. The cover is an "Ocean's 11" inspired image that had the "11" with a couple of candy stripes and then a shot of the three kings of holiday singing.

george the terrible, 05 Nov 2008
Oh dear oh dear . Despite all Georgee does to make himself a total laughing stock , out the good folk of this world dash to get another slab of his genius in concert or on CD's such as this . Honestly people , you can do better . Not one of these dirges sticks in the mind long enough to be forgettable , they just drift through the mind with the impact of a car insurance advert , but at least you need to have car insurance . Take it from me you really don't have to listen to George . Your ears not were designed to be used so badly . Wham Magic Man, 13 Sep 2008
Bottle of wine required, chill guaranteed but don't drive !, 03 Feb 2007
Excellent!, 20 Oct 2008
Great Collection Of A Forgotten Era, 20 Sep 2008
