Product Description
Fans of High School Musical can breathe easy: Based on this soundtrack, the sequel is just as good, and perhaps even better. Though its trailer asked "Are you ready for the start of something new?" HSM2 isn't turning the franchise into The Wire, and really is more of the same--which is, of course, totally fine by us. One of the most energetic tracks is Chad and Ryan's musical/baseball number "I Don't Dance," propelled by a cool big-band swing motif (fans of director Kenny Ortega's choreographic work for Xanadu will be reminded of that movie's mash-up of disco and swing in the "Dancin'" number). Once again Troy and Gabriella get the ballads, but "You Are the Music in Me" is a fine one and doesn't get bogged down in syrup. It also gets reprised by Troy and Sharpay in a rockier and arguably better version. This is typical of the fact that, overall, the bouncier tracks fare best: "All for One" (with its handclaps and surfy guitar licks), the s! ingle "What Time Is It" (the time of our lives, of course!), "Work This Out" (complete with percussive, well, workout). Of course everybody's favorite brother-sister team, Ryan and Sharpay, gets a couple of great vehicles: "Fabulous" and the zany, Hawaiian-flavored "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a," which more than anything else sounds like a tribute to the Disney princess of the 1960s: Annette Funicello. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Listen to this album more than twice and you will go mad!, 04 Oct 2008
Hung in there with the first. However, this album has no artistic merit whatsover!! The worst thing any adult could do is take this in their car on a long journey - Be warned!!
I've never seen such an awesome movie in my life!, 03 Apr 2008
All i say is that this is quite possibly the most perfect, surreal movie ever created. Me and my friend Stephen Kane sat and watched it seven times and never got bored. We know all the songs and the words "What time is iiiitt??"
I 100% recommend this movie, it made my life.
A grease but better, 02 Apr 2008
I know people say this is just like Grease The Musical: I find this really annoying there are millions of musicals out there and they pick on this one leave it alone it it brilliant!
My fave songs are:
What time is it
Faboulous
Work this out
You are the music in me (Gabriella/Sharpay)
I don't dance
Gotta go my own way
All for one
Bet on it
I find High School Musical better than High School Musical 2 can't wait for High School Musical 3 Senior Years
Is this album worth it? You can 'Bet On It', 21 Mar 2008
Phenomenally strong album from the young cast of HSM2.
Bet On It is clearly the stand out track, brilliantly performed and sung by Troy (Zac Efron). The whole album is an incredible listen and a must buy for any HSM fan.
Really good mix of songs, great =], 01 Jan 2008
I wasn't really keen on this album at first, having seen the first film and thought it all a bit 'cheesy', but when I turned it on I was quite surprised.
There are some slow songs, like Gotta go my own way, and some more pop songs, like Bet on it, sang by Zac Efron. The songs are all extremely catchy & will be in your head all day long!
A really brill CD, I'd recommend it to anyone

Magical!, 24 Feb 2008
I have two little girls age 6 and 8. We have owned this cd for over 2 years and they just haven't tired of it. In fact I am contemplating buying another one as our original box is broken and the lyrics sheet unreadable! They know all the words and all the tunes and have spent many hours dancing on the lovely songs from the original soundtracks.
This is a magical cd that I will keep forever long after my girls have left the nest to remind me what they used to be like when they truly thought they were princesses and that their prince charming would really come!

A totally uplifting soundtrack with both well known songs from the film and some quality unreleased additions. The children in my class love marching to 'the elephant song'and track 6 is a great 'tidy-up song'. I couldn't recommend this this varied selection of songs more!
Entertaining, atmospheric music - great for kids of all ages, 03 Aug 2001
My children love this CD. They march to the sound of Colonel Hathi and his elephants, boogie with Baloo the Bear and the Bare Necessities, are mesmerised by Trust in Me (The Python's Song) and swing with Louie the King of the Apes. This CD has kept them entertained on many a long car journey or wet afternoon. The music is timeless and eternally entertaining to young and old alike.

Two for one!, 06 Dec 2008
The only reason i gave this album 5 stars is because the 'meet Miley Cyrus' section but i have to say some of the hannah montana songs are good..........well better than the first one anyway.
Hannah Montana 2
1. We Got The Party - With or without the Jonas Brothers you have to admit this song is very catchy. Awesome start to the album. This one will get stuck in your head - 10/10
2. Nobody's Perfect - This song is probably the most popular with everyone. Great music with a catchy beat and an inspiring message - 9/10
3. Make Some Noise - Love this one! But it does get a little annoying towards the end with the repeating of the same line over and over - 10/10
4. Rockstar - One of the best. Fun to listen to with upbeat and catchy lyrics - 10/10
5. Old Blue Jeans - This is where the album goes wrong i think. Boring song with the same message as most of the songs in the first soundtrack ('best of both worlds', 'other side of me' etc) - 5/10
6. Life's What You Make It - Just what you expect from Hannah Montana - cheese but its good anyway. Its slightly annoying when it gets stucj in your head though - 7/10
7. One In A Million - One of my favs. Great soft ballad with heartfelt lyrics - 10/10
8. Bigger Than Us - Its good just not as good as the rest of the tracks on the album - 7/10
9. You and Me Together - Ok. Not the best but not the worst. - 6/10
10. True Friend - Cheesy but cute. Nice lyrics and music. - 10/10
Meet Miley Cyrus
1. See You Again - You can see why this song is so popular. It's awesome! Shows the darker side to Miley - 10/10
2. East Northumberland High - This song really has no message or anything. Flimsy lyrics but its so good - 10/10
3. Lets Dance - Love all the different sounds in this. Great to dance - 8/10
4. G.N.O (Girls Night Out) - Its a bit 'Hannah Montana' but its still fun and dance-able - 9/10
5. Right here - Lovely lyrics and nice to sing -along to. Nice message and relatable - 10/10
6. As I Am - It seems a bit boring until you get into it start singing along and actually listen to the lyrics. - 10/10
7. Start All Over - The lyrics don't really make sense but its a great song awesome. I love the guitar and tune to the song - 10/10
8. Clear - Absolutly love the hawaiian sounding music. Very catchy - 10/10
9. Good and Broken - Great pop/rock song thats fun to listen and sing along to - 10/10
10. I Miss You - Emotional lyrics and soothing sound. It's a great way to close the album - 10/10
This Can Only Be,,,, 20 Mar 2008
1) One Of Your Favourite Albums.
2) A Guilty Pleasure.
Seriously. A lot of people hate Hannah Montana thinking its a stupid kids show when look at the fantastic music.
The album starts with "We Got The Party", which is upbeat, and you will soon know everyword. Then comes "Nobodys Perfect", a frequent song on the show, and is more poppy than an explosion. Taking a break from pop comes "Make Some Noise", although having rock style is actually a slower ballad. But then it hits you-"Rockstar"-fast, addictive catchy. But "Old Blue Jeans" is a repititive-but GOOD song-how do I describe it? Electrical...Im not sure...But buckle up for "Lifes What You Make It", which has ''I should of been on the first album'' written all over it. Then "One In A Million"- Guilty pleasure. =) As we go into "Bigger Than Us", a love ballad, is strangely addictive, but in comes "You and Me Tothgether" which is not well know but poppy and catchy. =) One more song on this disc to go-"True Friend" is the only country pop crossover I have heard-Fab. Buckle up again now-Tighter than "Lifes What You Make It"-for Miley Cyrus's half. Trust me, this disc is all REBELLIOUS ROCK CHICK! And it starts with "See You Again" which is the most popular song of both discs in the U.S., and I can see why. Next is "East Northumberland High" which is all about moving on from a guy. Oh dont worry, its good enough. But then comes Lets Dance; Lets Dance is a salsa/pop/rocky song which like a lot of songs on this album is strangely addictive, but then we see "Girls Night Out"-its a good song, but boys might feel embarrased to like this. =) Soon we see "Right Here" and "As I Am"-Two great less rocky songs...But its not over as in comes "Start All Over"-It will rock you out! Phew! Next is "Clear", not a rocky song, but a song you will fall in love with, same with the next song, "Good And Broken" which has some fab ryhming words. The last song is "I Miss You", which Miley wrote about her grandpa who passed away-Her voice shines through and it will warm your heart.
IF YOU HAVENT BOUGHT IT YET-BUT IT NOW! :D
Love IT, 01 Nov 2007

Product Description
Elton John doesn't seem like a natural choice to write for a Disney musical, but he rose to the task on The Lion King, transcending his usual penchant for the softest of soft rock. Sir Elton's collaboration with Tim Rice (former writing partner of Andrew Lloyd Webber) helps connect the soundtrack to the theatrical lineage of all Disney musicals--so much so that, like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King was eventually adapted for Broadway. Undistinguished songs like "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" are far outnumbered by stirring, stately tunes that lent the film so much of its sense of pageant and play. --John Sanchez

Truly the best Disney soundtrack ever! , 06 May 2006
This is certainly the most amazing soundtrack that Disney has produced, proven by the fact that it has won awards for its brilliance. The music is absolutely mind-blowing, and there is something there to touch every emotion, from the dramatic "Circle of Life," to the beautiful heart-wrenching "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," the fun, bouncy "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata," and of course there's no forgetting the dark "Be Prepared." There is, of course, the wacky "Morning Report" which, despite being very good in its own right, does not match up to the others, it being an additional song for the Special Addition. Of course, it is not only the Elton John/Tim Rice songs which make up the brilliance of this soundtrack. Hans Zimmer's scores, mixed with the amazing essences of African music, really bring the CD together! The hit songs at the end are also brilliant, especially the newly added "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" re-mix! Altogether, this is one heck of a soundtrack, and it is no wonder that it won the awards that it did! This may not have as many tracks as some other Disney soundtracks, but the quality of the music on this will make you listen to it over and over again! I would say this is GRRREAT!, 24 May 2004
This is a puurrrfect cd for all the family. It has all the original songs, including one which wasnt put into the film called "The Morning Report". My favourite one is be prepared, as it has that dark tinge to it. It also includes the songs "Can u feel the love tonight?" and the "Circle of Life " by elton john. It also comes with a funky cover which has a changing picture depending on where you look at it! This CD is a must have for any disney or lion king fan!

the lion king album is the best CD of audio i have ever heard. It is really good i loved it! I recomend it really!!!!!
My Animated Film Soundtrack of Choice!, 21 Jan 2004
Hold on now children. Sure, the Elton John songs are great. In particular, ‘Circle of Life’ (as heard in the film) sticks in the mind, as an irresistible blend of contemporary Western song writing with glorious African vocals. That spectacular opening zoom up to the head of Pride Rock as it hits the chorus (you know the bit) is a movie image that will probably never leave me, and its awesome impact owes BIG TIME to Elton’s songwriting talent. The quirky ‘Hakuna Matata’ and his likeable pop ballad version of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’ are also definite high points of the album. But hang on. We cannot speak of this soundtrack without mentioning the efforts of a certain Mr Hans Zimmer! (The previous user comment seemed to imply that Elton John also composed the orchestral cues – boy, did he get HIS lions crossed!) The orchestral score aspect of ‘The Lion King’ is epic and beautiful, and simply WORKS, because it never allows itself to admit that all we’re really dealing with here is a few thousand cute animal drawings. Zimmer unashamedly approaches the drama and emotional nuances of the story with respect and straight-faced sensitivity; happily, no gawky cartoonish fluttery is anywhere to be heard. His themes are great, and there are many. (Watched ‘The Lion King 2’ recently, and without Zimmer’s memorable leitmotifs, it seemed to have no soul.) Two or three of the motifs, in particular, capture just the right combination of majesty and tragedy (“a king’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun…”), while the uplifting African chanting creates a nice contrast from the heavier stuff (heard, for instance, when Simba decides to leave the jungle and return to the Pridelands). The track ‘To Die For,’ however, is a cut above the rest, which underscores my favourite sequence in animation history: the Wildebeest Stampede. Did you ever hear anything darker or more intense written for any cartoon before this? Unlikely, my friend, unlikely! There are a few holes in the album, and I’m disappointed that this Special Edition hasn’t been used as a chance to release more of Zimmer’s score. If you don’t own the first album, it’s well worth purchasing all the same.
i love this!, 05 Nov 2003

Gotta go my own way
All for one
Bet on it
I find High School Musical better than High School Musical 2 can't wait for High School Musical 3 Senior Years Is this album worth it?
A really brill CD, I'd recommend it to anyone high school musical, 26 May 2008
Excellent Karaoke CD-G, my six year old and her friends had a fantastic time on this the graphics are easy to follow and the music authentic.
Well recommended Magical!, 24 Feb 2008
I have two little girls age 6 and 8. We have owned this cd for over 2 years and they just haven't tired of it. In fact I am contemplating buying another one as our original box is broken and the lyrics sheet unreadable! They know all the words and all the tunes and have spent many hours dancing on the lovely songs from the original soundtracks.
This is a magical cd that I will keep forever long after my girls have left the nest to remind me what they used to be like when they truly thought they were princesses and that their prince charming would really come! A Bear Necessity!, 07 Oct 2001
It's a great way to close the album - 10/10 This Can Only Be,,,, 20 Mar 2008
Magical., 02 Jul 2008
This is my favourite movie soundtrack of all time.
Harry Gregson-Williams' score is flawless, magical and layered. He uses an array or instruments and choirs, and each add to the over-all feel of Narnia.
The Narnian theme runs through this soundtrack, culminating in my favourite track - 'The Battle'.
HGW did an amazing job of capturing all the wonder and magic of Narnia, and just as Lucy is experiencing it all for the first time, we feel like we are, too.
Imogen Heap and Alanis Morissette's tracks are worth the CD price alone, and the lyrics are perfect for this film.
I've been listening to this soundtrack non-stop for almost two years now, and I personally think that it is just as good as the actual film.
Gregson-Williams on form, 28 Jan 2007
One of the finest soundtracks of 2005, this has a unique feel, and I think, as is often the case, better than the film itself. The first half of the album really sets the scene for an outstanding second half, with tracks like The Battle (has shades of Kingdom of Heaven), and Only the Beginning of the Adventure are amoungst the best I have heard. The only downside to this album are the songs stuck on at the end. The four songs are not nessercery, especially since sections of the actual score were sacraficed for this rubbish. But ignoring the songs, this is a great soundtrack
Absolutely brilliant!, 05 Jul 2006
When I watched this excellent film, I was impressed by the music, and soon decided to buy the soundtrack. I certainly wasn't disappointed because this is one of the best CD's I've ever bought and can't stop playing it. Special mentions go to "The Battle" and Alanis Morrisette's "Wunderkind".
Good quality soundtrack..., 14 Apr 2006
One of the main things that had stayed with me about the movie apart from the excellent special effects was the soundtrack and the diverse sounds and tunes it had, from the classical to the slightly new-age pop.
The main theme music to the movie is a very memorable tune that you quickly associate with the movie as its signature, as all themes should do. One of my favourite tracks is "The Battle", with sweeping peaks and lows and changing density to match the emotion of the movie.
"A Narnia Lullaby" is another strong track full of mystery and with a punch.
I really love the "Can't Take It In" song performed by Imogen Heap at the end of the movie. It's a really excellent feel-good track.
Alanis Morissette's song "Wunderkind" which plays over the main credits at the end is another good track, that fits the movie very well.
A couple of the tracks are a bit ordinary and some of the other good arrangements I liked from the movie have been left off this CD. On the whole though, this is a CD which is great to play at anytime.
Wonderful soundtrack, 07 Apr 2006
Fantastic andbeautifully composed, Narnia is a fantastic soundtrack to listen to, however, if your default player is I-tunes, please be wary that this soundtrack WILL NOT play on I-tunes, so buyers beware!

EVERYONE SHOULD OWN THIS CD!!!!!
Super, 07 Nov 2007
What more can a say than this is just a super CD!
Well worth buying.

I have a friend in Bloomington with whom I go to films on a regular basis. We have several genres of films which we prefer, and others with which we will experiment, but animation, particularly Disney, was never among them. However, I've often enjoyed Robin Williams characterisations, and so persuaded my friend Jim (who informed me that I would then owe him the next three film selections) to go to Aladdin. He enjoyed the film, and I loved it. This was a children's film that had entertainment value for adults, too, and crafted the witticism and irony into the dialogue and songs that were incredible.
Alan Menken is the primary composer behind this soundtrack. Working with Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Menken and company produced a Oscar-winning soundtrack with individual songs as winners and nominees ('A friend like me', Williams vocal character tour de force, received a nomination, and the themesong, 'A whole new world', won the award).
Tim Rice (Sir Tim Rice, actually), lyricist, is known for many spectacular productions, including various collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber (again, now titled...), such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. The crafting and care in the songs is evident; erudition is not sparing in this collection, but neither are the songs inaccessible to either children or adults. This, I feel, is the mark of a great talent.
Finally, working on the project was Howard Ashman. Ashman died of AIDS in 1991. He worked on many Disney projects, including Beauty and the Beast. According to the Disney corporation, 'In animation, we have two guardian angels. One is Walt Disney, who continues to touch every frame of our movies. The other is Howard Ashman, who continues to touch every note of our movies.' One of my reasons for originally wanting to see this film is that I had heard of Ashman's connexion with my university, Indiana University -- he received his MFA from that school in the early 1970s. Ashman is also known as the lyricist for 'Little Shop of Horrors', another collaboration with Menken, which, if one watches Aladdin with that in mind, gives a whole new world of impression on the film!
The music makes me laugh and feel good. I am much less prone to aggressive driving if I have this CD in the box in the car! Of course, this is a sappy love story with, in my opinion, a rather silly denouement, but it works for the kids. Of course, the lyrics are, as I indicated, educational: I've had the chance to explain what nom de plume, charge d'affaires, and coterie mean.
Some filmtracks have lifted portions of this music for use as background material, which is another sign of successful composition.
But, by far the high point has to be Robin Williams' vocal flexibility and ingenuity in the characterisation of the Genie. Alternating accents and impressions (at one point doing Edith and Archie Bunker, at another doing William Buckley, etc.) the rapid flow of the voices smoothly across causes me to wonder if the characterisations were improvisational, with the animation produced afterward to fit the flow of the changes.
I recommend this soundtrack most highly to children and to adults who love comedy. It is an interesting treat.
Songs:
Arabian Nights
One Jump Ahead
Friend Like Me
Prince Ali
A Whole New World
'A Whole New World' has two tracks -- the one of the actual movie scene, performed by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga, and the 'radio edit' performed by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle. There are some dozen additional tracks of background/mood/theme-setting music.
