Product Description
Fans of High School Musical can breathe easy: Based on this soundtrack, the sequel is just as good, and perhaps even better. Though its trailer asked "Are you ready for the start of something new?" HSM2 isn't turning the franchise into The Wire, and really is more of the same--which is, of course, totally fine by us. One of the most energetic tracks is Chad and Ryan's musical/baseball number "I Don't Dance," propelled by a cool big-band swing motif (fans of director Kenny Ortega's choreographic work for Xanadu will be reminded of that movie's mash-up of disco and swing in the "Dancin'" number). Once again Troy and Gabriella get the ballads, but "You Are the Music in Me" is a fine one and doesn't get bogged down in syrup. It also gets reprised by Troy and Sharpay in a rockier and arguably better version. This is typical of the fact that, overall, the bouncier tracks fare best: "All for One" (with its handclaps and surfy guitar licks), the s! ingle "What Time Is It" (the time of our lives, of course!), "Work This Out" (complete with percussive, well, workout). Of course everybody's favorite brother-sister team, Ryan and Sharpay, gets a couple of great vehicles: "Fabulous" and the zany, Hawaiian-flavored "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a," which more than anything else sounds like a tribute to the Disney princess of the 1960s: Annette Funicello. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Listen to this album more than twice and you will go mad!, 04 Oct 2008
Hung in there with the first. However, this album has no artistic merit whatsover!! The worst thing any adult could do is take this in their car on a long journey - Be warned!!
I've never seen such an awesome movie in my life!, 03 Apr 2008
All i say is that this is quite possibly the most perfect, surreal movie ever created. Me and my friend Stephen Kane sat and watched it seven times and never got bored. We know all the songs and the words "What time is iiiitt??"
I 100% recommend this movie, it made my life.
A grease but better, 02 Apr 2008
I know people say this is just like Grease The Musical: I find this really annoying there are millions of musicals out there and they pick on this one leave it alone it it brilliant!
My fave songs are:
What time is it
Faboulous
Work this out
You are the music in me (Gabriella/Sharpay)
I don't dance
Gotta go my own way
All for one
Bet on it
I find High School Musical better than High School Musical 2 can't wait for High School Musical 3 Senior Years
Is this album worth it? You can 'Bet On It', 21 Mar 2008
Phenomenally strong album from the young cast of HSM2.
Bet On It is clearly the stand out track, brilliantly performed and sung by Troy (Zac Efron). The whole album is an incredible listen and a must buy for any HSM fan.
Really good mix of songs, great =], 01 Jan 2008
I wasn't really keen on this album at first, having seen the first film and thought it all a bit 'cheesy', but when I turned it on I was quite surprised.
There are some slow songs, like Gotta go my own way, and some more pop songs, like Bet on it, sang by Zac Efron. The songs are all extremely catchy & will be in your head all day long!
A really brill CD, I'd recommend it to anyone

Magical!, 24 Feb 2008
I have two little girls age 6 and 8. We have owned this cd for over 2 years and they just haven't tired of it. In fact I am contemplating buying another one as our original box is broken and the lyrics sheet unreadable! They know all the words and all the tunes and have spent many hours dancing on the lovely songs from the original soundtracks.
This is a magical cd that I will keep forever long after my girls have left the nest to remind me what they used to be like when they truly thought they were princesses and that their prince charming would really come!

This Can Only Be,,,, 20 Mar 2008
1) One Of Your Favourite Albums.
2) A Guilty Pleasure.
Seriously. A lot of people hate Hannah Montana thinking its a stupid kids show when look at the fantastic music.
The album starts with "We Got The Party", which is upbeat, and you will soon know everyword. Then comes "Nobodys Perfect", a frequent song on the show, and is more poppy than an explosion. Taking a break from pop comes "Make Some Noise", although having rock style is actually a slower ballad. But then it hits you-"Rockstar"-fast, addictive catchy. But "Old Blue Jeans" is a repititive-but GOOD song-how do I describe it? Electrical...Im not sure...But buckle up for "Lifes What You Make It", which has ''I should of been on the first album'' written all over it. Then "One In A Million"- Guilty pleasure. =) As we go into "Bigger Than Us", a love ballad, is strangely addictive, but in comes "You and Me Tothgether" which is not well know but poppy and catchy. =) One more song on this disc to go-"True Friend" is the only country pop crossover I have heard-Fab. Buckle up again now-Tighter than "Lifes What You Make It"-for Miley Cyrus's half. Trust me, this disc is all REBELLIOUS ROCK CHICK! And it starts with "See You Again" which is the most popular song of both discs in the U.S., and I can see why. Next is "East Northumberland High" which is all about moving on from a guy. Oh dont worry, its good enough. But then comes Lets Dance; Lets Dance is a salsa/pop/rocky song which like a lot of songs on this album is strangely addictive, but then we see "Girls Night Out"-its a good song, but boys might feel embarrased to like this. =) Soon we see "Right Here" and "As I Am"-Two great less rocky songs...But its not over as in comes "Start All Over"-It will rock you out! Phew! Next is "Clear", not a rocky song, but a song you will fall in love with, same with the next song, "Good And Broken" which has some fab ryhming words. The last song is "I Miss You", which Miley wrote about her grandpa who passed away-Her voice shines through and it will warm your heart.
IF YOU HAVENT BOUGHT IT YET-BUT IT NOW! :D

relaxing and tranquil!, 23 Jul 2008
sorry to see that this CD has got a bad review as I think it is wonderful. My son can't go to sleep without it, it really helps him to relax and unwind. I think the fact that it isn't the original version is good, as the tracks are shorter and don't get too loud which is often the case with classical music. I really like listening to it too, I think it is well made!
nice, easy listening, 27 Feb 2008
i found the CD nice to listen to, never been a gerat lover of classical music but this CD is calming and relaxing. i play the CD at bath time and at night when winding down. my daughter seems to like it as much as her nursery rhymes. i think this CD would be nice to listen to when you are pregnant. i think it is a nice introduction to classical music.
Oh dear..., 22 Feb 2008
None of the music on this CD is as you will have heard it before, sadly it has been ruined and made into Musak or 'elevator music' which I personally find irritating in the extreme.
I've tried playing it through a few of times, hoping that my son might get some enjoyment out of it even if I couldnt, but he seems uninterested and to be honest I'm glad, it doesnt get any better with time and now its gathering dust.
Really disappointed! Stick to the real thing!

A Bear Necessity!, 07 Oct 2001
A totally uplifting soundtrack with both well known songs from the film and some quality unreleased additions. The children in my class love marching to 'the elephant song'and track 6 is a great 'tidy-up song'. I couldn't recommend this this varied selection of songs more!
Entertaining, atmospheric music - great for kids of all ages, 03 Aug 2001
My children love this CD. They march to the sound of Colonel Hathi and his elephants, boogie with Baloo the Bear and the Bare Necessities, are mesmerised by Trust in Me (The Python's Song) and swing with Louie the King of the Apes. This CD has kept them entertained on many a long car journey or wet afternoon. The music is timeless and eternally entertaining to young and old alike.

Gotta go my own way
All for one
Bet on it
I find High School Musical better than High School Musical 2 can't wait for High School Musical 3 Senior Years Is this album worth it?
A really brill CD, I'd recommend it to anyone Magical!, 24 Feb 2008
I have two little girls age 6 and 8. We have owned this cd for over 2 years and they just haven't tired of it. In fact I am contemplating buying another one as our original box is broken and the lyrics sheet unreadable! They know all the words and all the tunes and have spent many hours dancing on the lovely songs from the original soundtracks.
This is a magical cd that I will keep forever long after my girls have left the nest to remind me what they used to be like when they truly thought they were princesses and that their prince charming would really come! high school musical, 26 May 2008
Excellent Karaoke CD-G, my six year old and her friends had a fantastic time on this the graphics are easy to follow and the music authentic.
Well recommended This Can Only Be,,,, 20 Mar 2008
I'm 37 years old and this is on my iPod. I love it. Jolly Good Fun, 08 Mar 2004
You'll either love or hate this - personally, I think it's the best 'Young Person's Guide' and one of the best 'Peter and the Wolf' recordings available. The Poulenc I don't know so I can only say I enjoyed it too. More importantly, the children I have played it to have also enjoyed it - although the 'Australianisms' were strange to them (We adults can enjoy them!), the sheer enthusiasm of the 'narrators' puts across a love of the underlying music. As to the orchestra - good playing serving the composers' purpose and a good clear recording. Jolly good fun, and repeatable too.
Great. Every child should have a copy and every school too!, 06 Jan 2004
I bought this for my 3-year old son who absolutely loves the Disney mini-classic VHS of the same name. I was slightly concerned that Dame Edna was the narrator incase the comedy detracted from the 'scaryness' of the story (which is half its appeal) and the educational aspect of the Orchestra. I needn't have worried as the Dame does a great job. Although her voice is condecending (on purpose) to adults, it is friendly and almost 'cuddly' to children. My son listened to the CD whilst playing in his bed-room and ran and hid his head under the bedclothes, in mock fright, when the wolf's music came on. It was a joy to witness. I am sure this score has done a lot to encourage children to either listen to or take up classical music as a hobby. That's why every Infant school should have a copy. Failing this, get one for your child. You also get Babar the Elephant and the sections of the Orchestra. At this price, it's an absolute bargain!
A delight for all ages, 07 Jan 2002
I ordered this CD as much for Dame Edna's narration as for the musical selection, but this turns out to be a real all-round delight. Technically and musically, it is by far the most sparkling rendition of Peter and the Wolf that I've ever heard. And, although it is often grouped on recordings with Britten's Young Person's Guide, Poulenc's Babar is less well known and often overlooked. A good selection, brilliantly executed. The best tribute comes from my three-year-old son, who asks to hear it every day.
Excellent introduction to classical music for children, 03 Dec 2001
The best way to introduce children to classical music is to make it fun and interesting. This CD manages this in two ways: by narrating the story along with the music and by highlighting the sounds made by particular instruments. I'm not a great Dame Edna Everage fan, but his/her narration is most fitting. My 6 year old daughter has several of the Naxos "narrated for children" stories and this is by far her favourite.

Amazing, 14 Dec 2006
Possibly the best album of all time. Kermit has an especially fantastic voice, a cross between an early Cat Stevens and David Gray in his latest album, Life in Slow Motion. However, I think his rendition of One More Night till Christmas perhaps eclipses both these two great artists. I had heard rumours of a contract with Sony BMG and a solo career, but have no idea why it hasn't materialised. The song Love Is Gone is also an absolute classic, and brings tears to my eyes, especially the second version Track 18, which is perhaps the stand-out song of the entire album (which is saying a lot). Michael Caine also impressed me, and although not perhaps with quite the same talent as Kermit, or even Tiny Tim (whom reminds me of a young Aled Jones, and I believe has the potential to be a massive start when he is a bit older) he fits the role perfectly and I could listen to him sing all day. All in all, probably the greatest movie soundtrack of all time. How this didn't win an oscar I will never know. Buy it...
What can I say..., 12 Mar 2006
It's the Muppets Christmas Carol, a classic in any form, DVD, VHS, or CD.
Brilliant for Christmas time, when you're feeling Christmassy, well anytime of year really.
Great for kids, adults, the elderly.
AND it's got some extra songs on it that arn't in the film!

Gotta go my own way
All for one
Bet on it
I find High School Musical better than High School Musical 2 can't wait for High School Musical 3 Senior Years Is this album worth it?
:D Love IT, 01 Nov 2007

I like number 1 and 2 and 10, THEY'RE MY FAVOURITES
I would DEFINATELY recommend this CD, especially if you have Highschool Musical and like Disney Channel and Hannah Montana. relaxing and tranquil!, 23 Jul 2008
sorry to see that this CD has got a bad review as I think it is wonderful.
Don't let the kids have all the fun, 27 Jun 2008
This was bought for my second child, who is now 2, but my 5 year old found it in the cd rack and wanted to listen to it, she loves it and insits on putting it on every night, she says it helps her to go to sleep! (and it does, I don't think she has even listened to the last few tracks as she is asleep before the end) Looking to buy some more now!
mad about mozart, 01 Aug 2008
I hated this at first, it is totally pared down mozart- and played it only on headphones to the foetus. Now he is born, we both absolutely love it and often it soothes me more than baby!!!
