Nothing quite like it for the kids., 01 Jul 2002
My kids are hardcore fans of Barney T.V show. I thought this CD would be right along their alley. It was love at first sight for my five yaer old kids. It starts with the frightfully jolly Barney theme song, and ends with the emotional I love you. it is a rollercoaster ride of fun and games, and you'll be humming along to it in no time. The standout tracks are definately the reassuring "my family's just right for me", the bouncy tune of "the ants go marching" and the frankly rather disturbing but still very jolly "do your ears hang low". There are disapointments including the rather cliched alphabet song and the rather repetitive Itsy Bitsy Spider. The rather symplistic lyrics aside this is good clean fun for all the family. I continually hum "the ants go marching" but just ignore the fact that people look at me strangely. I am a forty year old lawyer and see no shame in liking catchy upbeat tunes. If you have kids, then is is an essential purchase.

Super-dee-duper Sleepytime!, 07 Feb 2003
This is a replacement that I am looking to purchase - need I say more? Sleepytime is fantastic, my two year old son loves it and listens to it constantly (hense the need for a new one!). All the songs are great - from "Getting Ready for Bed"; "Brushing My Teeth"; to "I love You". And my son surprised us recently by singing "Frere Jacques" - his first french lesson!

Barney's Favourites has given my Autistic son years of enjoyment. Barney is good, positive, teaches children how to be thoughtful, kind and how to have good manners. His tunes are catchy and the words are easily understood. Any child who enjoys the Barney videos will love this cd and any of his others, he opens up their imaginations!!!

Wonderful tenor saxophone playing that should be heard., 29 Dec 2008
Saxophonist Barney Wilen is probably best known for his work on the soundtrack of 'Lift to the Scaffold' with Miles Davis but he also recorded some excellent albums under his own name including this one from 1958. Barney is in wonderful form on tenor saxophone throughout with sterling support from the great Kenny Clarke on drums, Milt Jackson using only one finger of each hand on piano and Percy Heath on bass.
The twelve tracks include compositions from Django Reinhardt, Charles Trenet, Thelonious Monk and two originals from Barney Wilen. 'Jazz sur Seine' is a fine example of Barney's tenor playing and deserves to be more widely known.
