I'm Glad to Finally Have This Soundtrack, 17 Dec 2008
I didn't see this movie until several years after it had been released, but I immediately fell in love with it. And one reason was the songs. But by the time I went looking for the soundtrack, it was long out of print and therefore very expensive. But when Disney rereleased it, I bought it as soon as I could.
There are two main reasons I wanted to get it - "One More Sleep 'til Christmas" as sung by Kermit and "It Feels Like Christmas" by the Ghost of Christmas Present. Both songs are warm and rich as they share about the joys of Christmas. Frankly, either work outside of the movie. I'm surprised I haven't seen more people covering them.
And there are a couple of songs that work well in the context of the movie, too. "Scrooge" is a wonderful introduction to the character. As sung by the cast, it tells us exactly what we need to know about the main character. "Marley and Marley" is surprisingly funny considering it's one of the scarier moments of the traditional story. But it gets the point across with some humor.
And, like all soundtracks, there are several instrumental pieces. I count 6 of the 18 tracks. Scattered throughout, they really do invoke the feel of the movie even if you aren't watching it.
Two of the tracks, "Room in Your Heart" and "Chairman of the Board" were cut by the time I saw the movie. Frankly, they are my least favorite tracks here, probably because I never saw them in any context.
This will be yet another honored part of my Christmas music collection for years to come. If you like the movie, get it before it disappears again.
Amazing, 14 Dec 2006
Possibly the best album of all time. Kermit has an especially fantastic voice, a cross between an early Cat Stevens and David Gray in his latest album, Life in Slow Motion. However, I think his rendition of One More Night till Christmas perhaps eclipses both these two great artists. I had heard rumours of a contract with Sony BMG and a solo career, but have no idea why it hasn't materialised. The song Love Is Gone is also an absolute classic, and brings tears to my eyes, especially the second version Track 18, which is perhaps the stand-out song of the entire album (which is saying a lot). Michael Caine also impressed me, and although not perhaps with quite the same talent as Kermit, or even Tiny Tim (whom reminds me of a young Aled Jones, and I believe has the potential to be a massive start when he is a bit older) he fits the role perfectly and I could listen to him sing all day. All in all, probably the greatest movie soundtrack of all time. How this didn't win an oscar I will never know. Buy it...
What can I say..., 12 Mar 2006
It's the Muppets Christmas Carol, a classic in any form, DVD, VHS, or CD.
Brilliant for Christmas time, when you're feeling Christmassy, well anytime of year really.
Great for kids, adults, the elderly.
AND it's got some extra songs on it that arn't in the film!

There could have been more songs from the muppets take manhattan on the cd. Apart from that the cd was very good. It is a pity that the muppets take manhattan soundtrack is only available on vinyl. Genius!, 08 Jun 2007
An overworked producer, a porcine diva of the highest order, an unfunny bear comedian and more. The Muppet Show was possibly one of the greatest TV shows of all time, and this album does well to collate some of the best musical peices featured. It numbs the pain of losing the original album I had on vinyl when I was young... wonderful muppets, 23 Feb 2006
This CD is a hit with every member of my family, young and old. Each item brings back lots of memories and we have all had a wonderful time listening to it. It has been played countless times in the few days we have had the CD. It's timeless and still as original for us oldies as when heard for the first time. excellent cd, 08 Dec 2004
I can warmly recommend this compilation. It's both funny and very entertaining. Sure to please the kids and the kids-at-heart, 05 Sep 2003
This wonderful CD has 27 tracks, all containing great memories from the Muppet Show, and the subsequent movies. Fourteen of the tracks are from the show, four from The Muppet Movie (Rainbow Connects, Movin’ Right Along and Can You Picture That? – three of my all-time favorites!), three from The Great Muppet Caper, three from The Muppets Take Manhattan, one from The Muppet Christmas Carol, one from Muppet Treasure Island, and one from Muppets From Space. As you can see, this CD has a lot of great songs, and a lot of great Muppet memories. The paperwork has a bunch of great color pictures, plus the story of Muppet music. This is a great CD, one sure to please the kids and the kids-at-heart (like me)! Buy it!

Product Description
Prepare to do a double take as you check to see what album you just started playing. "Main Title/The Ark" is serious sci-fi stuff--heavenly choir, huge crescendos and a theremin. This is no ordinary Muppets album. Right up to the most recent (Muppet Treasure Island), you'd have got what you'd expect--a song-full laugh-fest. Sharifi's score is by and large a straight-faced affair. With a couple of militaristic touches thrown in by Rupert Gregson-Williams (the excellent "Singer's Theme"), it's more like a movie trip on the Starship Enterprise. That's until "Fanatics for Aliens" introduces a lounge jazz mood replete with saxophone and moog synth to remind you that we're in the company of the kooky glove puppets after all. With "Piggy & the MIBs" there's a trace of Carter Burwell's Conspiracy Theory conveying the secret agency's cool, while "The Ship's Arrive" owes plenty to Alan Silvestri's The Abyss. These and a few other "homages" are the only cute aspects of an otherwise remarkably rousing score. --Paul Tonks
