sounds of the Tropical Rainforest, 29 Nov 2007
This is a very chilled CD but literally noises from the rainforest so literally does what it says on the tin! No more no less. No soft music in the background but does the job of sending you to sleep and relaxing you. Thought I was in a tent in the middle of a forest from the noise but actually was chilling in my comfy bed all warm and cosy!

Serious users beware!, 21 Jun 2006
I was looking for specific battle sounds and found much of it to be very interesting and potentially useful.
However, any serious user should be made aware that a lot of this cd is material which has been transferred from vinyl and not cleaned up - so many clicks, pops and scratches remain.
The track listing on the booklet is also not accurate making thing difficult to find. Not the end of the world if you know what you're listening for .. otherwise, a bit of a headache.

The first impression I got when listening to this Cd was that this was put together by someone with several sound clips of the ocean and a box full of seagul, whale, foghorn and ship sound effects and put them all together with no thought. The "sound effects" appear regularly at what seems precisely timed intervals and are loud, intrusive and so unbelievably out of place its not true. There are much better Ocean CD's out there (I recommend Ocean Relaxing Surf by Relax with...). Leave this one for background sounds at you nearest sealife centre, its about as relaxing as watching Jaws.

Had this CD for ten years. It's a fantastic recording of natural rainforest sounds, no nonsense music or anything else to spoil it. It really is like being in a forest and it's perfect if you need to sleep through other peoples' parties.

Product Description
If you're looking for a wealth of sounds that occur in discrete chunks--that is, in less than two-minute episodes--then Sounds of Horror, Sci-Fi, the Weird is ideal. With 63 tracks ranging from "Wind and Shutters Banging" to "Mad Doctor's Operating Room" and "Chainsaw Starting and Running," this collection is the work of unadulterated sonic grimness. Which is to say, it's perfect if you want to set a mood in parts of the house for fright night, or if you want to play multiple CDs to keep the party guests on their toes. The sound effects aren't interwoven (for that, try Halloween Horror: Scary Sounds from the Hex Files or Screamin' Halloween Sounds), but they come with enough proximity to each other to keep the mind and heart racing as one bursts, only to subside and introduce another. No cheesy compressed bits here, as everything is vivid and bright--at least sonically. After all, it's all dark (except for the bizarre "Hip, Hip Hooray Cheers" or "Surf and Seagulls"). --Andrew Bartlett

The white noise you need, 01 Oct 2005
For years I suffered with noisy neighbours, yapping dogs, screeching deliquents outside my window. Then I discovered the Tropical Surf CD and everything changed! No music at all, just 60 mins of the sound of waves crashing on the beach. The strong deep sound means next door's party is inaudible. The swooshing of the waves means higher frequency noise is also blocked. A truly wonderful CD.
