Truly brilliant selection, 17 Nov 2008
Yes yes, Ministry of Sound put out plenty of albums, particularly classic ones, and seem to get plenty of flack in the reviews (!), but honestly this is brilliant. I was given Anthems I for Christmas last year, and that was pretty good, but this follow up is even better. Mostly because it digs out some of the brilliant but not often seen tracks like DReam, S Express, New Order, Orbital and Billie Ray Martin.
Discs 2 and 3 seem to be chronological as well, but it really is big tune after big tune, great if you buy only one dance album. Faithless, Livin Joy, Modjo (what a track!), Olive, Stardust, the list goes on.
I'm lovin it! Couldn't recommend it more...i'll be getting it for people for Christmas...

Best Club Album Yet !!!, 27 Oct 2008
Well i must say i thought this was just another compilation of the latest tunes that i don't care about at all. How i was wrong !!
This is brilliant, it contains new songs such as "Cry for You" and also contains some real classics such as "Luvstruck" which we recognize from "Kevin and Perry". The list really does go on and not only are they brilliant tracks but they are also all club mixes of these songs so there's added bass and speed on most tracks.
Good for general listening but obviously much better in the car, club, house party or anywhere with loud speakers and subs !!
EASILY worth the money !!

Winter Kandi - So Sweet, 18 Nov 2008
Fabulous CD, it doesnt take itself too seriously, this isnt serious house music... its hands up in the air - peaktime, party time fun... just what you need at this time of year.
Great value for money, some exclusive remixes and a corking unmixed winter chill lounge cd as disk three that i guarantee will NOT be off your ipod this winter season.

Mixing goes from quite good to terrible..., 21 May 2008
I buy dance compilations primarily to listen to good mixing between (good) tracks. The track selection on this package isn't awful, OK there are some tracks that perhaps shouldn't be there, but what annoys me slightly is the total lack of any careful mixing between tracks. Some transitions are as smooth as silk, whereas others are a simple fade down and fade up which all takes place in about 3 seconds, or just a crash edit, which I find defeats the point of buying an album such as this.
When will MOS return to letting actual named DJ's mix their output?
Adequate for someone who likes chart dance music, 26 Mar 2008
It bemuses me why negative comments towards most dance compilations always say 'same stuff repackaged' - dont buy it then!! The song lists are provided beforehand to give you an idea of what songs and genres are included. This compilation, though not the best for someone who prefers less commercial music is good to put on in the background or in the car. It serves its purpose well.
Pretty good, 20 Mar 2008
Very good for exercise classes/ aerobics!
This is what to buy it for; definatly not easy listening!
mos anthems, 04 Mar 2008
the first cd i didnt know any of the songs. the third is rubbish, the second is the only one i rate with good dance classics which give you the friday feeling. all in all, expensive for one good cd!
Naff, 19 Feb 2008
I have to aggree with most of the others, Most of the songs are good all round classics but its jst not any different to the albums they have released in the past.
Its not worth the money as if you look hard enough in your CD collection you probably have them all already

I have to say that hed kandi have done a great job here they really have captured the sounds of ibiza this year! Unlike ministry who seem to just use the word ibiza for some kind of commercial gain and slap anything together and sometimes its debateble if it has been mixed at all. If your'e wanting cd's that represent ibiza this year with precision mixing you'll not go wrong here an allround top mix from start to finish... Wait for the sun to shine (it will one day) grab a cold beer and get in the garden with the tunes on and you'd think you were on bora bora beach ;) Niiiiiiice!
RIGHT ON THE MONEY KANDI!!, 09 Sep 2008
I was a little skeptical about their being two world series releases this year as we already had a recent installment from San Francisco. I love this series as it gives HK a chance to break away from its traditional mould, and present a more international sound... and this edition does just this and with great conviction.
The artwork is amazing and everything is presented in its usual luxurious style. Each mix has something special to offer... I think disk one is probably more on the tip of what you would hear late into the night at El Divino but there are elements and winks back to the Kandi camp running right throughout the compilation.
The John Jones mix is a total winner for me fitting more to my taste of some proper funky but tough house music that i was hearing when i was in Ibiza back in july.
In a sea of ibiza compilations that you can buy i would probably say this is my favourite of this year. Absolutely superb!

excellent , 14 Nov 2008
debut release from the mau5, a great mix of original progressive house with some more mainstream funky/ambient stuff thrown in. Best feature of the album for me is the sound quality itself, the production is top notch - EPIC!
Stunning, 01 Nov 2008
This is the best house CD I have heard in a very long time. The continuous mix at the end of the CD is what it's all about. Saw him play at the Space closing and this is even better. I can't recommend it enough.
:-) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :-), 30 Oct 2008
Deadmau5 has produced and remixed quite a lot of choons on the dance scene over the last couple of years. This album release has come at the right time where, to his credit, he is now recognised as a serious and "in demand" producer/remixer who has his own style and distinct sound.
The album is a mixed album of Deadmau5's most recognised choons. If you have never heard his material, I would describe it as minimal, melodic progressive house that sounds very warm and bouncey - not cheesey!
For me the best tracks are Brazil, Alone With You, Not Exactly, Faxing Berlin and Arguru.
If you want a banging hard sounding album then this is not for you. But if you want a more chilled and well produced sound that teases the listener in places then go for it.
The reason I gave this a 4 Star is because not everybody likes a mixed album of one particular artist. Having said that, this album works the way it is and I personally prefer it this way.
If you like a bit of minimal proggy stuff then I can't recommend this high enough! Tip Top!! :-)

No Longer a Rumour- Invol2ver deal sealed (Successful)!, 20 Nov 2008
Officially, I knew this would be released about one or two days after I ran the Imogene. It was a lot harder to get used to the original Involver when Sasha first started it, though I liked that one with the atmospheric break beats than it picked up a little bit. However, Invol2ver (Involver 2) has a little more life in it than that. The anticipated date was questioned since last year and there were only rumours of Involver 2 coming out in the future, though not confirmed.
Finally, the news is out with Involver 2 now officaially in existance. How did it fair? The original CD had a lot more beat in it than the original Involver release. You could actually here same Sasha tracks in it as well, including a couple of unreleased tracks. The ambience remained, but a lot darker and denser. It took me two tries to get it right, but despite a couple of boring tracks, Involver 2 is a highly recommended release and deserves a 4.5/5 in my opinion. The second CD reminds me of something THE ORB would do. Ambient music!!
Recommended to all Sasha and Digweed fans; not discluding anyone else from trying it!
Masterpiece, 11 Nov 2008
I find it difficult to explain how good this album is. Global Underground refer to Invol2ver as a masterpiece (in the 'Global Underground 2009' sleeve notes. It is. I don't feel the need to qualify this statement. Sasha is peerless. Usually, I make the mistake of listening to albums too often and they quickly lose their appeal. However, this beautifully crafted album just gets better every time. Buy it.
the man is a genius, end of., 15 Oct 2008
Buy this, from amazon, enjoy. Ignore self promoting reviewers comments, they are too busy loving themselves to recognise the talent, skill and sheer bloody hard work that went into this awesome album. Sasha, I thank you.
A complete return to form and beyond..., 08 Oct 2008
Both Sasha and Digweed have restored my faith in progressive house simultaneously.
Invol2ver and Transitions 4 are two of the best mixes I've heard since the GU Ibiza and Hong Kong mixes respectively way back in 1999.
Sasha, having bored me fairly rigid on two incoherent mixes namely Fundacion and Involver, has produced a beautiful and complex sound scape which blew me away on the first listen. The thing is this mix builds beautifully and hangs so well. The same could be said for Transitions 4 (Digweed)
I feel the Sasha has taken dance music in the direction he wants but has neared perfecting his craft. The tracks are more vocal and seem more subdued and wistful than in previous mixes (see Communicate) but has managed to build interesting and atmospheric layers over them while the melody simply brightens and brightens which achieves the euphoria it is designed to do.
Brilliant stuff. It's just ace.
Can't put my finger on it...., 30 Sep 2008
I'm not going to get caught in the gushing gooey Sasha trap. I've listened to the album a few times now and can't quite sum it up. There are moments of genius (aren't there always with Sasha?), but I can't help feeling that this lacks some of the imagination of Involver. It needs some breaks, more lushness, more melancholy, more something.
That said, I've checked myself before it's too late.... my expectations of Sasha are probably higher than that of any other DJ. Here-in lies the problem. If anyone else had released this, I would be extremely impressed. I know Sasha is even better than this though. The mix however, still gets 4 stars because it's very pleasant on the ear and in fairness the man has evolved his sound again, like he always does.

Fabulous CD, it doesnt take itself too seriously, this isnt serious house music... its hands up in the air - peaktime, party time fun... just what you need at this time of year.

It bemuses me why negative comments towards most dance compilations always say 'same stuff repackaged' - dont buy it then!! The song lists are provided beforehand to give you an idea of what songs and genres are included. This compilation, though not the best for someone who prefers less commercial music is good to put on in the background or in the car. It serves its purpose well.

Absolutely superb!

debut release from the mau5, a great mix of original progressive house with some more mainstream funky/ambient stuff thrown in.
Buy it.

If You Like Good (Christmas) Muzak, 16 Dec 2007
For the price, this album is great value. The orchestrations are well done without being overblown and the sound quality is excellent. This is an ideal CD to have playing quietly in the background as you wrap presents, decorate the tree or trim the sprouts. It won't stop you in your tracks and make you think "That's stunning!", but neither will you wince. Definitely worth getting. I bought it for just one track, Carol of the Bells, and I was quite pleased with the rest as well.
So not Christmas, 26 Oct 2007
You can see what they were trying to achieve with this album but however the Christmas "standards" just do not work with pan pipes! It's just not right!
Chillout says it all, 15 Dec 2005
If you like ambient-style chillout, you'll like this. What sets it apart is that the tracks vary in style, instrumentation and performer. This isn't an album where everything is played on a synth emulating a sax or panpipes. Tones and moods vary. Some tracks are lush, others are sparse. It's a good mix.

This is Dark. Dark and edgey. Dark, edgey and out of leftfield. Its like the soundtrack to a film that noone could ever make. The ideal soundscape for driving through the bleak urban wasteland at midnight dressed in black....its a dimly lit room, you are wearing strong shades....its ever darker then that and nearer to the edge than U2.
It might even be being released soon....

will this ever come out? 5 starts because its gonna be good when it does.

It's a good mix.
this is Dark., 08 Nov 2008
This is Dark. Dark and edgey. Dark, edgey and out of leftfield. Its like the soundtrack to a film that noone could ever make. The ideal soundscape for driving through the bleak urban wasteland at midnight dressed in black....its a dimly lit room, you are wearing strong shades....its ever darker then that and nearer to the edge than U2.
It might even be being released soon....
hmm, 23 Sep 2008
will this ever come out? 5 starts because its gonna be good when it does.
Good but ambient-esque, 19 Nov 2008
Real good tracks but it is kept at a reasonable pace. It doesn't quite develop, so could appear a little boring. Tight and flawless nice music, more melodic than progressive the way it used to be. The Paris GU mix is similar.
Good for summer listening, and background - versatile for everywhere.
Nothing extreme. I have the tracks separately which are excellent, but this mix does not develop - There are more epic stand out mixes... This is good but I want people to know not to expect a 5 star GU Release... yet again. Unfortunately.
Wicked !!, 10 Nov 2008
I've got most of the GU Cd's and while all are good none have compelled me to write a review until now, both the Cd's are the sort of upfront tuneful progressive I love,If you liked Shanghai (disc 1) and Paris (disc 2) you will love this!! the mixing and production are also superb and it's hard to pick a favorite disc...Enjoy !!
gu back to its best, 08 Nov 2008
after the last two releases i was getting a little worried... not now as this release is back to their best!!
Masterpiece, 04 Nov 2008
This is prog house at its very best. Both discs are excellent
however disc 2 has a relentless quality not heard on this label
since the brilliant Emerson,Uruguay.Anyone who doesn't like this
is wired all wrong. You wont regret buying it.
A little disappointing, 23 Oct 2008
Having absolutely loved the past two GU Nick Warren releases, I found this disappointing. It's all the same and flat - and doesn't pick up/put you down in any way. I found myself getting bored - which is a real shame because NW is such a great DJ when he's on form.
GU NW Shanghai and Paris were fantastic and really put Nick on the top DJ list, but this sounds very dull and bland. Nothing to stand out from all the other melodic/deep house stuff that's pumped out these days. Previous NW releases have had me jumping out of my chair and amazed at how he finds such different tunes to play. Sorry!

:)
BUY BUY BUY!, 18 Sep 2008
Album of the Year, 15 Nov 2008
Cant write enough good comment5 about this album, top mix and epic production!!!!!!
BUY IT NOW
excellent , 14 Nov 2008
debut release from the mau5, a great mix of original progressive house with some more mainstream funky/ambient stuff thrown in.
