Summer Sounds, 09 Jul 2002
To paraphrase a rather well known ad slogan, this does exactly what it says on the tin. Fun, uncomplicated tunes for listening to in the sun (preferably on a beach). The first CD is the better of the two encompassing Layo & Bushwacka!, Moony, Tim Deluxe and a Techno'd up version of Green Velvet's "La La Land". X-Press 2's "Lazy" & DB Boulevard are a bit old now but still sound great. The mixing (done on computer unfortunately) isn't too bad either. Still not sure what Kylie's doing on there though. The second CD has a more of a Trance feel to it and though it contains a couple of superb tracks notably Ferry Corsten & Art of Trance, but has it's fair share of clunkers too (Ian Van Dahl? Lasgo??). Still I guess we expected Cream to stop being cutting edge long ago, so in all a good effort
Light Summery Fun, 22 Jun 2002
For a snapshot of the good feeling that has swept across the country over the past few weeks (brought on by sporadic sunshine and some success in football), this album matches the mood perfectly... It's impossible not to at least tap your foot along with the first cd, with the summer anthems from X-press 2 and DB Boulevard, plus highlights from Timo Maas, Missy Elliot (all danced up courtesy of Basement Jaxx) and Oakenfold. The fantastic Southern Sun opens the 2nd cd and sets the mood from the start. The funky Punk from Ferry Corsten and Art of Trance takes you off towards the end of a really good album. I can imagine listening back to this album in a couple of years to come, and have this summers memories flooding back with the tunes. In summary, summer 2002 - on 2 cd's :-)

memories of summer 01, 06 Sep 2001
Every year, when the colder months roll around (every month bar june-august!) you find yourself looking back to the long lost days of summer. And to accompany your little nostalgic trip there should always be music, anthems - songs of the summer! Every year has them and it only takes you to hear about 30secs of a song before you're crying 'this reminds me of summer!' Well, here is Cream Ibiza, released just before summer 2001 officially ends and packed with all those tunes that'll have you reaching for the photo album you stocked up through July and August, or the clubbers video you made on your hols! There isnt as much commercial 'cheese' on here as you might expect from a CD with Ibiza in the title. And overall, there aren't really many songs to dislike. CD1 is funky/disco house that's perfect for groovin to, altho Mutiny's The Virus would've been better placed on CD2. I personally prefer the first CD, for the order of tracks and how theyre nicely mixed together to provide one big smile-inducing, hand-clappin mix. CD2 has some great summer tunes, like Lovely Day, Drop Some Drums, Always, (sub)Urban Train and Members of Mayday. But the order seems a bit muddled and you'll probably find yourself skipping some tracks. Overall, Cream Ibiza is a fun compilation that should keep you interested for at least a few months!
Not so Creamy..., 24 Aug 2001
This is a good CD with very good mixing but it also has downsides. CD1 is great, very good club music with excellent mixing. CD2 is not so good, good mixing but the tune selection is terrible, you start off with great trance tunes then as soon as you hit song 7 it all goes down hill, you start getting club and garage type tunes, then it picks up a little at the end. Not so good for the trance fan.
Essential buy to round off the summer!, 21 Aug 2001
Some people give these type of compilations a lot of stick for being too "mainstream" or "cheesy," but this album has all the classic tunes of the summer dance scene, possibly with the exception of "starlight." However, it's a crackin' buy and brings back a lot of memories from this years lads holiday. It gets a definate thumbs up from myself and I recommend it to anyone who went out to the Med with their mates this summer.
cream ibiza finally!, 20 Aug 2001
what a great album to have to round off the summer with cream. arrivals was not released this year but cream ibiza is it makes up for that with its housey tunes and funky beats! its a sure one to have!

Not the best, 03 Sep 2003
This album is different but i thought it was good but not as good as creams usual quality. Cd2 defently makes this album i feel with more decent tracks like 29palms,lethal industry,on the run etc a good trance mix. Cd1 first track is ok then improving alot into addicted to base and tunes like lala land, brazialian etc a average house collection.I album worth having but buy you should check out cream authems 2003 alot better.
Not Creams best offering, 22 May 2002
Well, this CD is OK. There are better, and there are worse. Many of the songs are remixed, so they go with the dance theme, including Kylie and X-Press 2. What might be suprising is seeing Beverly Knight on here, as she is really chiled out R&B instead of Dance, but this song has been re-mixed, and sounds rather rubbish to me. I suppose it really depends on what sort of Dance music you like. If, like me, you prefer Dance music which can chart, go for Now Dance 2002 Pt 2. However, if you do like more obscure dance music, go for this album.

underachieving prog set with a big name round-up, 11 Feb 2003
You can probably count on one hand the number of grade-A compilations from tune factories Ministry of Sound, Cream, and the like. They're not striving for critical acclaim, aiming instead to please the greatest amount of people with A&R researched music. Which is fine since that's what you buy 'em for anyway. Some cheese is expected but no filler tracks, just the hits that tickle your fancy bits. Punte En El Mar supposedly represents the "beach bar grooves from around the world," which really means a big heap of tribally house numbers from all the usual suspects. Peace Division beat their drums, Circus Night and Dirty Vegas do the same but with tiger screams and garbled vocals. The nondescript Disc two veers more progressive/trance with the usual Global Underground faces. Highlights are all on disc one. Kevin Yost's "Conquistadors" goes balearic with perky conga beats, while CocoDaSilva work "@Night" into a throbbing primetime track even with the C&C Music Factory samples. Circulation, DJV, Stylus Trouble and others also get the nod. Disc two has starlets "Fever Rising," "It's Gonna Be," and "I Feel Loved," but surely you have these by now? Lowlights? Deep Dish/BT/Danny Tenaglia vastly overproduce the mediocre "Stranded," and Cevin Fisher's embarrassing "My Shadow" may be crowned the corniest cut of the year. Dropping Romananthony's potty-mouth (and nothing special track) would have saved them the Parental Advisory sticker. Should you get it? The sequencing is shoddy, and the presence of too many hits with too few breather cuts dilutes some of the big moment impact. Less would be more, but that's not the point, eh? So approach this as the Hollywood equivalent of a summer popcorn flick and you'll be duly entertained for two hours.
Poopa Del Este!!!, 01 Aug 2002
Well this was the biggest dissapointment of the season. Not at all what I expected. If you are into tech house and harder stuff this might appeal to you. This cd has absolutely no flavor to it whatsoever...it seems as if the cd player is stuck on repeat and is playing the same song over and over. I have given it a fair chance to grow on me and it just hasn't. I bought this cd because it looked a little funky and it's description reads "Beach Bar Grooves", but there is absolutely nothing beachy or groovy about it whatsoever. I advise you to stay far far away from this one, and if you like something with a little flavor try anything by Miguel Migs, or the Hotel Costes collection.
