a fantastic contribution to the world of psytrance!, 05 Oct 2008
I have been listening to psy (or goa) trance for well over ten years now (in addition to other styles!) and can honestly say that this offering from John OO Fleming is fantastic. For many years Jon has produced/mixed/been at the forefront of good quality trance music, but often on the more "commercial" side - his reactivate mix cd from the 90's was totally awesome, and with these three cd's, he has demonstrated his fantastic ability to turn his hand to more "underground" trance referred to today as "psy". I've kind of listend to this collection in reverse order - the 3rd CD, produced with the digital blonde, is a guaranteed trance stompathon - very full on, lots of great sounds and melodies, a seriously good listen! The second CD has tracks from established psytrance producers such as the legendary tristan, alien project, human blue and lots by one of 00 fleming's favourites wizzy noise - again, a great collection of tunes ranging from proper underground sounds to more melodic (but never cheesey!) trance.
As for the first cd, well, I've only had a quick listen, but it sounds very promising, very smooth, very "early morning!"
Whilst these cd's are all very good, I think they also demonstrate the talent of jon 00 fleming really well - I just wonder when he'll be invited to play some of the more underground dance music festivals like the glade? I think its high time he did in order to demonstrate to the purists the sort of amazing dj sets he plays!
well done jon!
I didn't like it, 09 Sep 2008
Perhaps I should have read the reviews more carefully and tried to listen to it somewhere before buying, because it isn't what I was expecting and consequently I don't like it.
My experience with trance is limited. I bought Dave Pearce's 'Trance Anthems 2008', on a whim, and loved it. I thought 'I want more euphoric trance!', saw 'euphoria' in the title and all the stars and good reviews, I thought "winner!". How wrong was I...
I was very disappointed. I guess I should maybe be looking for "Euphoric Trance", rather than "Psy Trance Euphoria". I think they must be two different things. I hope so, because if they're not, I'm at a loss as to what to buy next!
Back to this set of cd's, I'll try and give some positives. The last CD is the best as it seems to be a bit more imaginitive. However, none of the CD's are my cup of tea. Personally, I need more variation, musicality and a climax to a track to enjoy it.
Magnificent Electronica Return, 06 Aug 2008
Back at the turn of the century (21st century that is) the Euphoria CD's came thick and fast, each one eagerly awaited to see what new tunes and mixes were on offer. Then it all started to go downhill - the trance became the same old tracks recycled (or popped down) along with more emphasis on garage, house and bass styles.
I lost interest and moved off to explore power/prog/symphonic Metal instead.
After seeing there was a new Euphoria Psy-Trance box set out and reading existing reviews on Amazon I decided to give it a try. I can report being pleasantly surprised that "Euphoria" is very much back on track with a return to Electronica and something more than crowd pleasing pap for under-age teens waving their light sticks at the disco. Psy-trance does not quite have the soaring keyboards and melodies of some of the earlier material but CD's 1 & 3 in particular flow very pleasantly and have many high points. Certainly for me all the music is new and it's nice to see the contribution from John Fleming as composer. Not quite Hans Zimmer but in a few years...who knows!
And is that a (synthesised) death growl I hear at the start of CD 3!
With a running time of some 4 hours in total, the compilation represents incredibly good value for money. Recommended.
Goin' back to Goa . . ., 25 Jun 2008
I don't know what it is - is it the arrival of the first few rays of sunshine - but dance music always sounds better in the summer. I had grown quite tired of "Trance" music as there was an awful lot of commercial type dross coming out but this set of CDs really does go back to the whole underground Goa scene as Mr Fleming states in his very informative sleeve notes. Some of my favourite Goa artistes like Astral Projection have moved over into this Psy Trance scene and this makes for some interesting listening. I urge anyone to listen to Wizzy Noise and Xerox and Illumination - absolutely wonderful.
First experience of Psy-Trance a good one!, 28 May 2008
My Musical Background: I grew up listening to lots of very early trance back when John '00' Fleming was just hitting the decks and the likes of Binary Finary and Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel were released (good times). I then moved on into the world of what became known as Trancecore/Freeform Hardcore which had some amazing years (Sharkey's mixes Bonkers 3 to 5) and finally emerged into the sound of Tiesto and Van Buuren's weekly radio mixes (chillin in my later years).
I had begun to tire a little bit of the very fluffy trance that you get from these big names (don't get me wrong, they play some absolute corkers too) and fancied something different. I spotted this album purely from the mix artist John '00' Fleming and having purchased his Progressive mixes on Euphoria back in the day and been impressed, was drawn in to take a closer look.
I have never listened to Psy-Trance before and had no idea what to expect but have been thoroughly pleased with these three CD's. All three mixes are excellent with pure driving trance and infectious bubbly bass with hypnotic rhythms. The `Full On' mix is perhaps not what I would call full on but then I do come from a world where 180 bpm tracks where common place :P
If you like your trance a little bit less fluffy, less vocals, yet lots of layered sounds and excellent production work then look no further.

AWESOME! "LET'S HAVE YA!", 29 Nov 2008
This is REALLY awesome!! I have to say Yoji Biomehanika is a big favourite of mine when it comes to hard house music (or hard dance as he likes to call it). It's full of energetic music with sometimes complex beats.....with disc 1 being my favourite and the mixing is sublime and hynotic. You MUST buy this if you're into hard dance- you will not be bored!
Mr Yoji- "We are not worthy"!!
Yoji does what he does best, 22 Oct 2008
I have always been a fan of yoji so maybe i'm biased but this is one of his most amazing works to date, this cd has such variety in the music from the hard to the melodic yet at the same time a fresh feel to it. if ur new to yoji or a die hard fan this is a must buy!!

Some familiar tunes,, 28 Mar 2007
well, quite a few really, but three very good mixes in different ways, and each is noticeably more beefy than the previous disc. Sy and Unknown do a very solid selection that fairly lopes along once it hits its stride. Dougal and Gammer do a very vocal mix, and very bright and cheerful it is. Of COURSE Brisk and Ham come up with something a bit special: loads of their own tunes, plenty of V.A.G.A.B.O.N.D., very reminiscent of the brilliant Hi-Octane Collections. A bit of emotion, a bit of humour and loads of energy.

And then a point came when it reached to the 16th bonkers and the music started to ware, so i went out and brought this album for a change.
And BOY!!!! can i tell you it payed off every song on this album had me singing it, and after every song i wanted to hear more, this album is the best album i have ever brought, and i can say that it is worth every penny! if you love hardcore you will love it even more and if your a newcomer to the scene you will be singing the songs on this album for well over a month, the dj's play some of the old songs (although there faster and remixed so they sound great!) and the new songs are legendary.
Overall a great album, with legendary DJ's (especially brisk and ham) and raving tunes!

Excellent album. One of the best euphoria albums of recent years. With loads of older classics on which are great.
As good as it gets., 15 Jul 2007
OK, I have never written a review on Amazon, and probably never will again. However, the quality of this CD deserves more recognition than it has got. Whilst there a couple of songs of CD1 and CD3 that don't quite fit the awesome quality of the rest ... that's a small price to pay for a continuous stream of top quality dance records. CD2 - difficult to put into words how good it is - just keeps rolling with top quality beats. The tracks are not your usual chart garbage, but real clubber's music.
Whether you're working out, having a party or just chilling out on the beach in Barbados after watching the England cricket team get hammered (yes I was there) this has to be No.1 in your collection. The guy or guys who put this together know exactly what we want. For the record it's infinitely better than Classic Euphoria Level1 which had some good tracks, but doesnt sustain the quality of this one.
Try it - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
A trip down memory lane, 30 Jan 2007
Firstly this was an album that i actually didnt buy (for once), it was a gift given to me by my girlfriend (one of many..lucky me). I usually buy most dance/trance albums that come out because i am a huge fan, but not this one.
Now for those of you who have been into dance music for longer than a couple of years, will realise that there many tracks out there that are really good, but dont get the exposure like other more familiar tracks for example Faithless 'Insomnia'.
What this album does, is it gives some of those tracks the exposure they deserves because there really are some great tracks on this album. As i had bought alot of 'classics' albums before, i sort of skipped over this one. But i am really glad my girlfriend bought it for me, it is definately one of my most listen to albums at the moment. A album worth having in your collection.
My favourite track from this album (for the fact that i loved it when i first heard it, which was a long time ago, unfortunately had forgotten about it, but now gives shivers down my spine) - Atlantis Vs Avitar 'Fiji'
Good thrill all the way through, 21 Dec 2006
This is not for the one who say I've already bought this or that song. This compilation is indeed a very good selection and sequence of songs, no filler and no ice to be melt. Highly recommended.

Top DJ's top Music Top Hardcore!, 24 Nov 2006
I have been into happy hardcore for over 4 years now and owning many of the bonkers album's i was very closed minded and thouht any kind of other album would be nothing compared to it.
A must have CD!, 04 Nov 2006
If you like Hardcore then you will love this CD! Especially The Beat The Bass (Track 4) on Dougal & Gammer's CD. That track is worth the money alone!
Jay burnett, 09 Mar 2008
Good But Not Great, 10 Jun 2008
I guess it was only a matter of time untill Ministry Of Sound released a Hard Dance/Hard House classics compilation.
On the whole this is an acceptable album and as it focuses on the "Harder" side of EDM which hasent been so widely milked or ruined by commercialism unlike Trance and so although it is a "Very Best Of...." it still has some dignity as do the tracks.
However.....Ministry of Sound just couldnt let a classics album go without:
a) giving it 3CD's
b) putting on all the usual suspects on this un-needed extra disc
I am of course refering to the first disc that low and behold has tracks such as "Sandstorm" (do we realy need this track AGAIN??? its not particularly that good anyway) and a remake of "Planet Perfectos Bullet In The Gun" which people were fed up with in 2000 after it had been so over played! On top of these there is a load of other tracks that hardly sound "Hard" (Signums What Ya Got For Me???) that just would never have been on the older Extreme, Frantic, Tidy, Hard House Euphoria Albums.
That said the first CD tracks kinda pick up at the end (12-17) with "Operation Blade" (although the Classic Euphoria version is better) and "Joyenergizer" but once again what is Mauro Picottos Pulsar doin there????
Disc 2 however restores faith and is an excelent warm up to the full-on hoovered crazyness of the third disc wich is by far the best of the 3.
So should you buy it???? Well yes if you are new to Hard Dance and/or want to dip your toe in. However, after buying Extreme Euphoria 4 on the Amazon Market Place this has been put on the shelf because Extreme Euphoria 4 just makes this look so tame
Good songs, not so good mix, 20 Mar 2008
I bought this because of the DJ that is supposed to have mixed this.
The first listen through and I figured that it was some person with a copy of some beat matching software and a bunch of tunes that "needed playing".
I honest thought there was no attempt at cue-ing (jarring transitions from song to song), no EQ tweaking to merge one song into another more smoothly and no sense of flowing from one song to another.
Taken individually the songs are great - really I love them, sadly the mixing lets it down. I wanted to like this set of mixes but can't.
Very good but a lot of old stuff, 01 Feb 2008
Well if you like euphoria and like me i own it all get this cd.
The downfall is that it has a lot of old songs on here that are repeated on most of the euphorias but then it does have some new stuff as well.
I recomend to get this cd if your in to this sort of music and if you like euphoria.
I hope they bring asnother Euphoria out soon that will have all new music on there.
Lets Rave!!! Oh havent I heard these before?, 09 Jan 2008
These tracks are great if you dont buy many Euphoria cd's, but unfortunatly, like many other Ministry of Sound Euphoria albumns, they had to include Nightmare by Brainburg, Sandstorm by Darude, Time to Burn by Storm and more.
Moreover, this compiltion mixed by 'Lisa Lashes' contained mixes and links used in the original Classic Euphoria by the Ministry. I found myself humming along, realising that the mix between the two songs The Drill and Firewire were used in the 'Classic Trance' Compilation brought out by Ministry of Sound just months ago!!!
CD 2 and CD 3 do give a good selection of new and upcoming tracks however, and there are some very good remixes contained.
Concluding this review, if you like Euphoria, then buy the CD, just expect some old songs to be heard-they can be classed as 'classics' in the world of Euphoria but still dont need to be recycled. Overall however, a good compilation brought out by the Ministry.
Pretty perfect, 22 Dec 2007
This is a true masterpiece. CD2 is probably my favourite but I couldn't find one song I disliked on all 3 CDs. This is well worth the money in my opinion, I fully recommend it. This compilation is simply amazing

Nice concept, but leave the pro-tools alone!, 13 Aug 2008
I know the Ibiza classics thing has been done to death, but this is a pretty decent collection of tunes.
The might sounds flawless, but thats because it is. This whole album has been mixed on a PC - time stretched, pitch shifted, edited, the full works.
Now, I don't mind this - it's a CD full of classics but together in a clever and innovative way. But the time-stretching makes the sound quality AWFUL. The whole album sounds gritty, vocals sound choppy, and wonderful sweeping strings on trance tunes just sound pitted.
A great concept, good tunes, but poorly executed.
You probably own all these, 20 Aug 2007
As a fan of the Euphoria series, i was dissappointed when i saw the tracklist......as its basically the same stuff i already have on the other Euphoria albums.
As such, they are recycling the same old thing.....there are far too many "classics" albums out there and i think we probably all have them.
Great name being dragged through the mud, 10 Jul 2007
Euphoria's Ibiza albums used to bring new, quality house and trance music to the nation each year, but now they are reduced to this. It is hard to see why pretty much all of Ministry of Sound's releases in the Euphoria series have been 'Classics' focused. Fair enough, younger fans may not have been able to buy the originals, but that does not justify churning out the same old stuff every year. Why not re-release the old albums, like was done for the bonkers series a couple of years ago. If they continue like this, people will assume the scene is dead and buried, no longer producing quality music that the mainstream would enjoy. This view is wrong and it is self defeating for MoS to perpetuate it. What will they do in 10 years time when they go to release a classics album of stuff they released in 2007, only to realise no quality dance music managed to reach the public due to them and other label's suffocating the market with late 90's tunes.
It is ironic that they have backed Dave Pearce's new concept, 'Delerium' ( a euphoria rip-off), which has quality upfront tunes on it, when they still have the right to the euphoria name. Why not release 'Delerium' as a brand spanking new Euphoria? Watch out for 'Classic Delerium' in the next few years!
As for the actual product. The majority of the tunes are brilliant, but why not just fish them out from under the newer stuff on the cd rack, rather than spend money on an album which will be released 5 times this year under various guises!
I love it!!, 07 Jul 2007
If there is any album that's going to make you homesick for the white island it's this one. The tunes that have been picked to go on this album are pretty much perfection and Matt Darey, Armand Van Helden and Roger Sanchez have done an amazing job!
I'd recommend it to anyone to bring back memories of the best holidays they've ever had.
A marmite album, 18 Jun 2007
This is a marmite album in my opinion. I am to young to remember all the early 90's but i still love the early dance scene, not as much as the mid/late 90's but still some amazing tracks made.
I think this album is perfect for the old school in people, not perfect but so nice tracks to bring back the memory's.
If only they brought back late 90's trance/dance i would be in my element again :)

a fantastic contribution to the world of psytrance!, 05 Oct 2008
Top DJ's top Music Top Hardcore!, 24 Nov 2006
I have been into happy hardcore for over 4 years now and owning many of the bonkers album's i was very closed minded and thouht any kind of other album would be nothing compared to it.
A must have CD!, 04 Nov 2006
If you like Hardcore then you will love this CD! Especially The Beat The Bass (Track 4) on Dougal & Gammer's CD. That track is worth the money alone! Jay burnett, 09 Mar 2008
My favourite track from this album (for the fact that i loved it when i first heard it, which was a long time ago, unfortunately had forgotten about it, but now gives shivers down my spine) - Atlantis Vs Avitar 'Fiji' Good thrill all the way through, 21 Dec 2006
This is not for the one who say I've already bought this or that song. This compilation is indeed a very good selection and sequence of songs, no filler and no ice to be melt. Highly recommended.
However, after buying Extreme Euphoria 4 on the Amazon Market Place this has been put on the shelf because Extreme Euphoria 4 just makes this look so tame Good songs, not so good mix, 20 Mar 2008
This compilation is simply amazing Nice concept, but leave the pro-tools alone!, 13 Aug 2008

I used to like the EUPHORIA albums but then MoS bought them and they started to go downhill fast. This isn't a EUPHORIA album. I decided after hearing this, not to buy another one again. Fairly good, 25 Dec 2005
What makes this cd good is that theres 3disc which are completely different from each other. Firstly youve got Mr Judge Jules mixing classic uplighting euphoric trance. Then youve got a mix from Eddie Halliwell giving us a dose of Hard dance and techno.Last of all some funky crazy house from the Trophy Twins. So generally i feel this whole album has been reviewed hassly and is good. I would the mix Eddie Halliwell is the best he really shows how to rock roll a hell of a mix. Also Judge Jules giving fairly good mix and the house by the Trophy twins is very good. Massive!!, 01 Nov 2005
I can't believe some of the reviews for this album. This is one of the best Euphoria sets for ages. Judge Jules' disc is high quality and the Trophy Twins' disc is patchy but enjoyable. However the main reason to buy this album is Eddie Halliwell's incredible CD. It is a contender for the best hard house disc I have ever listened to. Highly recommended. Dull as dishwater, 25 Aug 2005
Cant believe how dull/uninspiring/drab/dire this album is. Moreover I cant believe I paid for it. Hope MOS read these reviews and get service back to normal for the next album. I buy these without even listening to them first. Next time round I'll be listening to the album before purchase. To cover the gap till the next album I've dug out the first 2 Eurphoria albums.
very original, 15 Aug 2005
While i wouldn't say this is a typical Euphoria compiltation i would say that i was pleasantly surprised by it. Euphoria cds have mostly been euphoric trance, however dance music has moved on now, with the selection of trance out there not as dynamic and groundbreaking as it once was. The Euphoria team has spotted this and opted for something slightly different. They've seen how the market has changed and opted for three cds of differing styles. They've gone for the driving techno and hard trance favoured by eddie halliwell a man at the top of his field, as well a dirty house cd mixed by the very talented trophy twins. They are both genres which have come on a lot in the last 1-2 years. It still maintains a trance cd, however Judge jules always offers something a bit different to your convential hands in the air trance and in my opinion is up there with the best of them. Having seen all these djs within the last three months each cd perfectly mirrors the styles that they have been playing out. Its refreshing to hear a complilation that features no commercial nonsence what so ever. This is what i can't understand about one of the other reviews, with the reviewer saying its like a ministry of sound summer cd.How?Its absoloutly nothing like an mos cd.Theres no flip an fill on here!No tunes on it that have featured on other compiltions 6 months before!Your not going to get a compilation full of upfront tracks with a side helping of eddie halliwells traditional scratching on a mos cd!Tunes to look out for on each cd are.cd1. Modulation-sky cd2.Three drives-Greece 2000 cd3. Corborn-interupt this programme. All in all if you want a cd that actually has the tracks you would hear at your proper clubs godskitchen, passion etc and not your cheese ridden clubs favoured by cap wearing dave pearce worshippers then this is for you because its an absloute belter!these ARE the tunes you'll be hearing in the summer
