Back to the glory days of disco, 23 Dec 2006
A really good collection combining some well known 'touchstone' tracks as well as some that may not be so familiar to the casual listener. There are some good 12" versions here as well as the shorter 45 versions of some songs. Recommended.

Very commercial selection with likes of scooter, deedee, milky, milk inc etc.But these songs by them are good and this people are fairly good esually milk inc with tunes like in my eyes. With also some well know tunes by ian van dahl like reason now i love that song.A collection of commercial dance and even flava of rnb by missy elliot and dnb by goldtrix. If you hate commericial dont bother but if dont mind abit commercial like me its good. Now thats what I call cheese, 25 Sep 2002
We've come to expect Ministry of Sound compilations to be more and more commercial with each successive release. However there was always a point of differentiation. A few tracks, which would mark the Ministry out over and above the real cheese (Big Ibiza Hits vol 2 or whatever). Not anymore though. This album contains just way too much rubbish. N-Trance, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Ian Van Dahl, 2 tracks by Scooter! Anything that actually is good on here (and there's not much) is either really old (X-press 2, DB Boulevard) or lost in the mish-mash of junk (Underworld, Basement Jaxx). Avoid. clubland experience, 22 Sep 2002
Dance Nation Anthems is the biggest collection of club anthems you're going to see. With massive tunes from the likes of Scooter 'Nessaja', Liberty X 'Got to Have Your Love', Oakenfold 'Starry Eyed Surprise', N-Trance 'Forever', Jurgen Vries 'The Theme', Milky 'Just The Way You Are', Underworld '2 Months Off' and so many more. Split across two discs, showcasing House, Trance, Pop Dance, this is one LARGE album that you need in your collection. a real clubber's bible, 08 Dec 2001
The series just seems to get better, and I have to disagree with the previous review. The first listen to CD1 and I was hooked, listening to CD2 and I wanted a copy for myself (I was listening to a friends). Clubber's Bible 3 aka Winter 2002 is now on my Christmas list and it should be on yours too, if you're really into clubbing. I was worried that most of the compilation would've gone commercial, but thankfully not. Bar a few, like PPK, you've got the excellent Cass/Slide Fever Rising, UBU Pixels, Diablo, Scumfrog and Future Sound of London. And if that isn't enough, there's classics like Riva/Stringer now feat. vocals from Danni Minogue, Tiesto's Urabn Train and the more recent funky house of Starlight and The Ones Flawless. Just buy this.
A couple of corkers surrounded by repetitive dead wood..., 04 Dec 2001
I eagerly awaited the arrival of this album, especially after it's hard sell on the tv adverts. Unfortunatly, the crackers that are belted out to advertise this mix are the only ones really worth listening to. I think the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and this kinda caught in my gullet....especially at the price. Overall, buy it if you like the few classics on here (PPK, superman lovers, Riva etc), but avoid it if you don't like the repetitive beat of a Ford Escort full of Kev lads on a saturday night....

If these are Pete's favouite tracks from the last 16 years, I would hate to hear his worst!!!!!!!!!
Waste of time - even at £2.99.
16 YEARS OF DANCE, 21 Jan 2006
Disc1, feel good, sing along, happy, getting ready to go out! Disc2, a bit hitty missy! Disc3, Hacienda meets Rezerection - old school classics!
the essential for 2005!, 08 Oct 2005
i have been a huge fan of the essential selection series which i first started collecting back in 1998. there hasnt been many of these compilations for a while and pete has made great work of this one. when i first listened to it, i didnt think too much of it (as it is a bit different from other mixes) but after i had gone through the albumn a few times i realised how excellent it is! this cd is deffinately a must for this year as it doesnt contain cheese (such as the new ministry of sound cd's). the best essential selections where the ones ranging from 1998-1999, and i would highly reccomend them. it would have been nice to see a limited edition version of this essential, but the cd is great anyway! there is a wide range of music spread out across both cd's, and most of it is heard in the clubs. if you are sick of the same charty rubbish, then this is a must!!!!
Essential Selection, 04 Oct 2005
Pete Tong is undoubtedly one of Britains biggest DJs holding down for 7 years the Essential Selection radio show. Pete has showcased some of the biggest songs over the years many weeks before they hit the mainstream. The Essential Selection is complete with some of the biggest tracks over the last year or so that Pete has been regularily spinning on air. Mainly funky house with some eclectic tracks the highlights must be Mylo, Chemical Brothers and Bob Sinclar songs. There are also fantastic remix's of U2's City Of Blinding Lights and the best track on the album, The Killers and Mr Brightside. All of the other big songs in club land are here and the album is perfect way to kick off your weekend night out.

THE Essential Urban Soundtrack, 06 Jan 2003
For those of us who like a range of urban styles, this selection of R&B, garage and drum & bass make Boom Selection 2 a must-have compilation. Missy Elliott's "Work It" has created a massive buzz all over and features as the title track on Boom Selection 2, and gives the compilation a real kick-start. CD 1 blends from hip-hop to garage to drum and bass which continues onto the second CD which also starts on another explosive tune, Shy FX and T Power's "Don't wanna know" a Latin influenced drum & bass track that's being played in every club across the nation. CD2 then ends on some chilled R&B from the likes of Jill Scott, Mary Mary and Maxwell. Boom Selection 2 is made up of 40 party tracks of mixed urban styles. It's a feel good compilation that's perfect to get you in the booty-shaking mood although it is a shame the tracks arent mixed together.
