Great fun...., 07 Jan 2009
Yes - nothing too deep or heavy here, just lots of funky fun. Set around an imaginary party weekend, the set starts with Friday Night on Disc 1, and gets a bit more intense on Saturday Evening - Disc 2, before tailing off with a relaxing Sunday morning - Disc 3.
Unusual set as I've never known HK (or anyone else) to include a chillout disc in such an uptempo set. But the whole thing works, somehow.
The third disc isn't mixed which is a bit misleading, though it would be technically difficult to mix tracks of this nature I should imagine, and the package doesn't suffer too much for it.
Quite a few mainstream songs here which will have some purists up in arms, but let's be honest, the days of HK being cutting edge have pretty much gone. Worth a buy, and good value. Put those hands in the air!!!
At last - true Kandi is BACK!!!, 31 Dec 2008
I told you... all that twisted disco (TD) stuff was undermining recent Kandi releases. Let's hope TD is to be consigned back to it's own genre cd again. Maybe it's taken a financial crisis - but at last, true Kandi is back and shining through - basking in the sun - dancing around the room - and lifting the spirits as high as they can go... Thank you Kandi!
Finally..., 02 Dec 2008
... a return to form for Hed Kandi... I don't know who is responsible for the A&R and mixing of this product but the quality has definitely been ramped up over recent Kandi releases. As another reviewer mentioned, this album doesn't take itself too seriously, and I think that's where HK have lost the plot recently. This is a fun, bright outlook on the world of current funky house which reminds me slightly of the Mark Doyle era, but evolved into perhaps something better.
If you've been disappointed with recent releases or are completely new to the Hed Kandi/funky house scene, then this is definitely worth your attention!
Winter Kandi - So Sweet, 18 Nov 2008
Fabulous CD, it doesnt take itself too seriously, this isnt serious house music... its hands up in the air - peaktime, party time fun... just what you need at this time of year.
Great value for money, some exclusive remixes and a corking unmixed winter chill lounge cd as disk three that i guarantee will NOT be off your ipod this winter season.

Disco heaven? Maybe... Maybe not., 26 Dec 2008
This year's disco heaven largely follows from previous efforts with a varied collection of funky, soulful and electro-house. This series is normally a Hed-Kandi strength but I think since 2005 its gradually lost its way.
Disc 1 is a mish-mash of funky house with some laborious vocals and the inevitable re-re-re-remix of Robin S' Show Me Love. I'd rather be shown something new at this point.
The second disc starts strongly with more intent than the first. Uplifting glitzy (if not slightly camp) house music wiht a definite underlay of quality and consistency, and finishing strongly with the ever-so-slightly dated Everything is Beautiful by Static Revenger.
By no means a bad collection at all, but peraps not a true representation of the current disco scene, with some genre confusion on disc 1 and some repetition from previous Kandi releases.
Heaven Gone Down....... :(, 23 Dec 2008
I have followed Disco Heaven for years now and have always loved Disco Heaven the most out of all house compilations and just can never get enough! Every year has gotten better and better and better! Until......
Disco Heaven 2008... Lets just say that it's still cool, but it sounds like a round up of the best tracks from all the Stereo Sushi volumes this year, butchered and then poorly mixed and blended with boring tracks you would normally find on one of those Ministry Of Sound Housexy compilations. There have been so many other great funky, soulful diva house tracks out there this year so it's a bit of a let down.
While I'm disappointed, I am gonna be positive for next year. Fingers crossed for 2009!

I have to say that hed kandi have done a great job here they really have captured the sounds of ibiza this year! Unlike ministry who seem to just use the word ibiza for some kind of commercial gain and slap anything together and sometimes its debateble if it has been mixed at all. If your'e wanting cd's that represent ibiza this year with precision mixing you'll not go wrong here an allround top mix from start to finish... Wait for the sun to shine (it will one day) grab a cold beer and get in the garden with the tunes on and you'd think you were on bora bora beach ;) Niiiiiiice!
RIGHT ON THE MONEY KANDI!!, 09 Sep 2008
I was a little skeptical about their being two world series releases this year as we already had a recent installment from San Francisco. I love this series as it gives HK a chance to break away from its traditional mould, and present a more international sound... and this edition does just this and with great conviction.
The artwork is amazing and everything is presented in its usual luxurious style. Each mix has something special to offer... I think disk one is probably more on the tip of what you would hear late into the night at El Divino but there are elements and winks back to the Kandi camp running right throughout the compilation.
The John Jones mix is a total winner for me fitting more to my taste of some proper funky but tough house music that i was hearing when i was in Ibiza back in july.
In a sea of ibiza compilations that you can buy i would probably say this is my favourite of this year. Absolutely superb!

I must be listening to a different album, 21 Aug 2008
Ignore the politics of Mark Doyle, Hed Kandi, Fierce Angel, honestly ignore that. The track listing on CD1, the apparently "twisted side of dance" begins with a remix of an Adele track and then a Daniel Beddingfield song. Robin S appears somewhere on one of the other mindless cds yet again with show me love for the 345th time this year.

Faultless compilation and the best I've heard from Hed Kandi for a while, CD2 is in my opinion outstanding with not too many obvious tunes but well programmed and full-on and funky you can't go wrong with this one "Buy it"!
This Album is the summer of 2008, 10 Jul 2008
Having just got back from another amazing trip to the amazing Isle of Ibiza, I'm writing this review while listening to this Album.... again
So many memorable tracks that bring me back to El Divino on a Saturday 'Hed Kandi's' big night in Ibiza Town Port.
Also makes me think of the Planes flying above on a late afternoon at Bora Bora, enjoying a Sangria or more with friends, new and old
The tracks that especially stand out run in sequence from Miracle by Deepest Blue, then Reach Out, Paramount, Something Real, Salvation and what has to be the anthem of 2008 Show me Love (Payami Remix).... what a tune. Too many good tracks to list and I just had to share the love with this review as it had to be said
The only problem I see now for Hed Kandi is how are they going to better this release?

THE summer compilation, 07 Jul 2008
I often see and hear people go on about how 'Hed Kandi aren't the same anymore', or are 'too commercial' now.
You know what? I don't know (or care) if that's true. But what I DO know is what sounds good, and Hed Kandi's Summer Mix 2008 SOUNDS GOOD! This CD defines summer for me, it's full of summer anthems, some commercial, some not so much, but it all blends together for a near perfect mix of summer house tunes.
There's 3 different styles of house (Twisted Disco, Disco Kandi and Disco Heaven) within this collection, my personal favourite being the first CD, because I love the dirtier side of house.
If you're a fan of dance or house in general, get this CD. It's perfect music for a BBQ!

:)
BUY BUY BUY!, 18 Sep 2008
Back To Love., 08 Apr 2008
Just got it, and boy do HED KANDI deliver!!
A lot of old classic tunes, and a lot from previous back to love.
But this should not discourage you.
Excellent, hope this helps
Just Keeps Getting Better!!, 23 Dec 2008
I love Stereo Sushi! And this one is even better than the last! We have been so blessed! So soulful, so funky, so gospel..... Yay!
My favourite tracks are:
* Sun Is Coming Up
* Put your Hands On
* Attracted To You
* Joy
It's just an amazing compilation and I just can't get enough!
Nuff said, for those of you with a tenner to spend save it for a kebab, this album is beyond credible and yes, I bought it

Back to Kandi, 18 Apr 2008
I agree with the reviewer below in that some of HK's recent releases have been slightly dodgy and appear to be cashing in on the rise in popularity of funky house music. Die hard fans have been complaining for months about the acquisition of the brand from ailing and tyrannical parent MoS, but it seems that the producers of this album have been given a more free reign to take HK back to its roots.
I'm glad CD1 wasn't reprasentative of the whole album, with lots of fairly commercial "heard it all before" tracks, only saved by decent mixing, however CD2 and 3 are subliminal. Never have Hed Kandi been this funky, the only comparison I can think of is HK: The Mix 50, another brilliant compilation. Tracks from Dervish, Bel Amour, Doc Da Funk, Stonebridge & Funky Junction leave the listener in no doubt that this is a high quality selection of tracks.
If you are a newcomer to the label or have been fed up of Hed Kandi's post-2006 compilations then this is definitely worth purchasing.
Save The Best Till Last..., 28 Mar 2008
The 1st CD (Twisted Disco) is pretty cool but the Aussie's do electro so much better...
The 2nd CD (DIsco Kandi) is boring and really commercial and over played. Feel like I'm listening to Ministry of Sound Annual..
The 3rd CD (Disco Heaven) OMG! Wow! It's amazing... Classic house with the most stunning vocals I've heard since the Disco Heaven release in October. I feel so blessed that twice in one year we got Disco Heaven. My favourite tracks are:
* The Cure & The Cause
* Get Down
* Inside Out
* Don't Wanna Go Home
* Good Lovin'
* Doo Doo Wap
* Stand Up
It's worth just buying the whole compilation for the 3rd CD. It's Fabulous and so camp... I love it! xxx
Another Kandi Mix but a lil better this time, 20 Jan 2008
This Kandi mix is not perfect.CD1 sounds a bit to commercial and CD2 has 3/4 good tunes. CD3 was a real surprise as it reminds me the good old Kandi era. It's worth buying it but mainly for CD3.
Nearly there Hed Kandi ... , 28 Dec 2007
Recent Hed Kandi releases have been poor, too many dud tracks and weird mixes.
This latest Kandi offering is almost back to the good old Hed Kandi days ... a good selection of tracks, well mixed and nicely packaged. There are quite a few tracks which are not exactly new - Dont Wanna Go Home by Dos Palomas Negras is ace but has been around for a bit, as has No Promises by Hott 22.
Despite this though, this is a worthwhile purchase. CD's 2 and 3 are great, and CD1 though not exactly what I like is still pretty good - Hed Kandi may well be coming good again .. fingers crossed!!!
2 out of 3 aint bad, 29 Nov 2007
First CD is a dissapointment but has got its good mixing moments.
however I had to skip some songs that I found to be really annoying.
Track 9 - pure torture. Wasn't the best choice. and some at the end.
They really damages the mix to be played all through.
count this one as 2 mixes 1-8, 10-14. 15 was ok but not for my taste.
Second CD is 100% a goldmine. All through a party CD to really dance to.
Third CD great selection even if the mixes are not completely 100% well done. I had maybe too high expectations about how the mixes were done.
I do not like however areas without any beats for a long period.
Even if in some areas can feel like a "teatime break".
70% party feel here.
Usually one makes its own remixes and then mix em up together.
That's why there are other mixes on CD's that are better fit to mix if like Hed Kandi doesnt feel like mixing the songs together for a longer period.
Overall it was worth the money every step of the way even though it wasnt
100% - this time

Energetic . , 03 Mar 2008
How anyone can slag off this album is beyond me . It contains some great tunes that make you want to get up and strut your stuff . Fair enough , you are not going to find deep and meaningful lyrics here , but that is not what this album is about . Enjoy it for what it is , some energetic and up tempo stuff that makes you feel good .
Turn off your brain and smile, 08 Feb 2008
It says it all that this album still has a top score despite some ridiculous attempts to turn this review page into a moral debate about its artistic merit.
Basically, if you love the singles and want more of the same, buy it - it does exactly what is says on the tin, no more, no less.
This isn't the coolest dance music you'll ever hear, but it is probably the most enjoyable you'll hear in a while.
So, if you want something to make you smile, be happy, drive to, get ready to or put in the background when your mates come round, this is it.
If you prefer to discuss the merits of copyright issues and artistic integrity, don't bother.
Dance music is about enjoying yourself and let's face it, if it wasn't for sampling or taking old music (and often not quite successful music) and reinventing it, there wouldn't be much dance music to talk about anyway.
Sure, it isn't a five-star album if you're comparing it to the best rock albums of our time, but in terms of delivering what it says it will, it's a 5/5 every time.
Switch off your brain, put a smile on your face and enjoy.
An Album that will have you dancing, 27 Jan 2008
I absolutely love this album, the songs just get better and better. I loved all the songs they had released anyway but the album did not disappoint. Its an album that i will listen to again and again and again. Need i say more!
One of the must have albums of 2007, 12 Jan 2008
I absolutely love this album, I think it's been in my car for the last 6 months; just track after track of funky dance tunes and don't get bored of them - definately one to get the night or your booty going! I don't care if any of them are cover versions, infact, im 32 and didnt realise any of them were covers. I also liked the girls in Big Brovaz but think they are now in a totally different league, keep 'em comin' girls!

:) Disco heaven?
BUY BUY BUY!, 18 Sep 2008
Back To Love., 08 Apr 2008
Just got it, and boy do HED KANDI deliver!!
A lot of old classic tunes, and a lot from previous back to love.
But this should not discourage you.
Excellent, hope this helps Just Keeps Getting Better!!, 23 Dec 2008
I love Stereo Sushi! And this one is even better than the last! We have been so blessed! So soulful, so funky, so gospel..... Yay!
My favourite tracks are:
* Sun Is Coming Up
* Put your Hands On
* Attracted To You
* Joy
It's just an amazing compilation and I just can't get enough!
Nuff said, for those of you with a tenner to spend save it for a kebab, this album is beyond credible and yes, I bought it Summer scorcher!, 12 Jul 2008
Too many good tracks to list and I just had to share the love with this review as it had to be said
The only problem I see now for Hed Kandi is how are they going to better this release?
tom THE summer compilation, 07 Jul 2008
* Get Down
* Inside Out
* Don't Wanna Go Home
* Good Lovin'
* Doo Doo Wap
* Stand Up
It's worth just buying the whole compilation for the 3rd CD. It's Fabulous and so camp... I love it! xxx Another Kandi Mix but a lil better this time, 20 Jan 2008
100% - this time These gals can definately wail, 01 Dec 2008
Superb
This is a party on a stick
If you like anything the girls have done - you'll love the whole album
and the girls can definately wail - checkout "Where you are" for something Lauryn Hill-ish Energetic . , 03 Mar 2008
Huh?, 12 Nov 2005
Can't understand all the negative comments here - I think this is probably the most consistent of the HK mix albums. World Series 1 was close but let down by the Twisted Disco set. Here, however, even that one touches the spot. It seems that commerciality put a lot of people off and they shy away from anything which has the whiff of the charts about it - I was the same when I was a teenager! But if it's good, it's good and all three cds here are superb. The choice of tunes is spot on and the mixing second to none. The runthrough going from "Dusk Till Dawn" / "We Are Family" / "Boogie"/ "Fade" on CD1 is vintage Hed Kandi and its beyond me how anyone can disagree. Compare this with the patchy offerings since Mark Doyle has left Team Kandi - at the time of writing, Hed Kandi 50 and Disco Kandi 05.05 - both VERY inconsistent. Here, you get three great albums for the price of one with a georgous Kandi Girl on the cover (even they've gone off with Mark to his new project!) If you like quality dance music you simply can't go wrong.
Hmmm.., 12 Nov 2004
...been championing Hed Kandi for longer than I care to remember however was sorely disappointed with this mix. Twisted is my fave' CD however apart from a few fantastic tunes on the other 2 discs I found it quite commercial and not in the slightest bit cutting edge...which I thought was what HK was all about?!?!? Have just checked track listing on the Winter Mix and don't think I'll be purchasing as numerous tunes seem to be repeated from other Hed Kandi CDs. Feeling a bit sad as this looks like it could be the beginning of the end of a beautiful friendship between me and the HK crew.....
a great release!, 03 Oct 2004
hi this is a fantastic slice of kandi tunes from this years summer. also to correct the first reviewer, the 3rd cd of this compilation is entitled "back to love" and as all kandi fans know this does mean that you will be listening to old skool classics as that is the nature of the back to love theme. in short this is as per usual a funky affair, my personal favourite is disc 1, but the second is still up there. if your into hed kandi, you will know what to expect from this mix album. if your a new comer to the kandi scene then i advise you to get this awesome mix, then go out and buy all the other kandi albums. these albums are like a breath of fresh air when compared to the monotinous tunes that are hitting our radios everyday, if only they played these tunes so that more people could experience the pure genius that is hed kandi.
Disappointing, 16 Sep 2004
I have been buying the Hed Kandi compilations since it first started out and I must say I found this album slightly disappointing!! There are a few good tunes e.g. Junior Jack, Brand New Heavies and Stonebridge, but considering there are well over 30 tunes on the album, three or four good tunes is quite pathetic. It might just be my opinon, i would advise having a little listen before purchasing.
A must buy - but where's Lola's theme?, 15 Sep 2004
I'm confused, where is Shapeshifters Lola's Theme on this CD. If Pete Tong can get it within his poor Pure Pacha CD then I really was expecting it here. Anyway, this is still a must buy. Here is made up of some brilliant tracks, CD 1 namely "Feels so Good" and "Put Em High". CD 2 and 3 aren't dissapointing either, but you will just go back to The Disco Heaven Mix time and time again. Listen loud people! As always, brilliantly mixed.
