Product Description
What once seemed Queen's greatest liabilities--a preening flamboyance and pompous, overwrought theatricality--have ironically become their most enduring charms in a grey, postmodern pop-music landscape. While it eschews the glammy, pre-punk hard rock of live faves such as "Stone Cold Crazy" and "Tie Your Mother Down" for the band's more quirky club-beat string of latter-day hits , this 51-track triple-CD anthology goes a long way toward documenting the true dimensions of the band's music and fame. It even includes some solo work by Brian May and Freddie Mercury, whose duet on "Barcelona" with diva Montserrat Caballé transcends boundaries of both time and genre. A previously unreleased live performance of "The Show Must Go On" featuring Elton John on vocals is also included. --Jerry McCulley

Ageless music, 14 Jul 2008
I have just got the box set recently, and have been enjoying it greatly. Not just that, my three daughters aged 9, 6 and 2 are great fans, and want to listen to it all the time in the car. And the two-year-old even says 'Rock' once she hears the first few bars of 'We will rock you'. Just goes on to show that Queen truly made ageless music, which still scores far above most contemporary music.
A triumph!, 29 Jun 2008
Every song is great and "Don't Stop me now" and "Save me" are especially good.Even my 14 year old son loves this set. I recommend this to any Queen Fan!

i love every track in this box set! it's brilliant and a complete bargain. would definitely recommend it to people wanting to get some classics in their collection
One of the best, 03 Apr 2008
If this collection doesn't represent 5-star standard then nothing does, i understand that music is a personal experience but queen's music really does span all tastes and i've yet to meet anyone who's spoken a bad word against them. Freddie Mercury has been described by many and the best frontman of all time and there really is no arguement, his vocals are strong througout every song here and brian may's excellent guitar work is an added blessing. Not only is this collection full of great songs but it's also extremely good value. Music rarely gets better than this and maybe never will again.
Bow down to Rock Royalty!!, 27 Mar 2008
The best, most flamboyant, most spectacular, most amazing rock group ever!! Queen are just brilliant. In Freddie Mercury, they had a frontman who had it all. He could command the stage like no one else, had a voice that was so incredible, a style that was so unique, and a talent that can never be dimmed. Brian May is a guitar genius, able to make the instrument speak, and being a good vocalist in his own right. John Deacon is brilliant on bass, and Roger Taylor a diva on the drums, each member stamping his own individuality on the band. Their music is so intense, so haunting, so fantastic, so QUEEN!! This band are THE Royalty of Rock, and as such, deserve all the homage that is offerred to them. They rock, their music rocks, they certainly rock my world, and I'm sure that everyone who listens to them will find their own world rocked too. God Save Queen!!

Product Description
Queen brought a whole new meaning to the phrase over the top. While rock & roll flamboyance stretched back at least as far as Little Richard, Freddie Mercury continued to camp it up, taking little seriously and smirking at the music's growing pretensions while partaking in them no small bit. Many of the band's singles hold up extremely well, such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen" and "You're My Best Friend". The quartet's canny sense of melody and sophisticated vocal harmonies--not to mention Mercury's raised eyebrow--have travelled well through the years. --Rickey Wright

Simply the best Greatest Hits around, 25 Apr 2008
If you were to buy one Queen album, this would be it. Apart from Sheer Heart Attach and A Night At The Opera, Queen's studio album's were inconsistent affairs and always had the odd stinker (e.g. Drowse, More Of That Jazz, Who Needs You, etc). This album collates 17 of their biggest singles (all Top 20 in one way or another) and you can't really complain about the track listing. OK, so a few singles are not on here (Tie Your Mother Down and Spread Your Wings were minor hits, Keep Yourself Alive didn't chart) but this compilation seems perfectly balanced with the tracks already on here. It's apparent that Freddie Mercury was definitely the dominant songwriter within this period of the band (Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Crazy Little Thing...., Somebody To Love, Don't Stop Me Now, etc) but there are also a couple of gems from John Deacon (Another One Bites The Dust, You're My Best Friend) with Brian May providing the rock (Now I'm Here, We Will Rock You, etc). Basically, this album is essential even for non-Queen fans.

Product Description
If time is the true test, then Guns N' Roses' Greatest Hits confirms that they really were one of the greatest rock & roll bands in the world. While, in retrospect, fellow graduates of the class of 1987 are about as cool as poodle perms and spandex, the LA bad boys still rock like gods. Listening to the sun-drenched chords of "Paradise City" and the ensuing stadium-sized swagger is enough to make wearing leather trousers and bandanas seem like a good idea. Of course, it helped that for them sex, drugs and rock & roll was a way of life, not a fashion statement. As Axl Rose wails "I wanna watch you bleed" on "Welcome to the Jungle", like a chain-smoking lunatic possessed, it's hard not to believe he meant it. Yet equally, it was his surprisingly poetic nature that made genuinely touching love songs of "Patience" and "Sweet Child of Mine". Though none of their subsequent albums matched the drug-crazed genius of Appetite for Destruction, they did, as the Greatest Hits reminds, have their moments. From the bloated Use Your Illusion I & II came ultimate rock ballads "Don't Cry" and "November Rain", along with the primal rage that was "You Could Be Mine". And while the covers of the The Spaghetti Incident were largely forgettable, the fact that their final single was a seedy sneer through the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" seems spectacularly fitting. --Dan Gennoe

It's no Appetite..., 07 Oct 2008
If you are new to the world of Guns N' Roses I urge you to go and pick up Appetite for Destruction and play the hell out of it. This is a good CD if perhaps you just want a mix CD for the car or whatever, but there is less of their groundbreaking debut album on here then I would have liked. Songs like Rocket Queen especially deserves a spot on this CD.
Excellent Companion Set to the 1st Album, 27 Aug 2008
This is an excellent set collecting together in a convenient single disk the best of G'n'R. But if you want an introduction to the band you should purchase the 1st album no question as its one of the greatest rock albums of all time. What this Greatest Hits collection does is bring together all the best bits from the other 4 albums plus the odd single. There are only 3 'taster' tracks from the first album here so its no hardship to buy the 1st album and this one together (especially as the former is so inexpensive). That's why this is the perfect companion set to the first album. If you are still hungry after that then dive into the others. No serious fan of hard rock, or for that matter any fan of contemporary music, can afford not to have a healthy selection of G'n'R in their collection.
Irrelevant and pointless, here's why...., 30 Jun 2008
Now I am a massive Guns `n' Roses fan and have been since about the age of 10 when I first heard Paradise City, I then went and got all of their albums from my local music store. Now the problem with this CD isn't the quality of the songs, tracks 1-9 and track 11 are fantastic, but...
1) Irrelevant because it isn't even a greatest hits. Some of the tracks are extremely poor and have no place here, for example `Since I Don't Have You', `Ain't it Fun', `Sympathy for the Devil' and `Live and let Die'. Now although these songs are good when you consider some of the songs not included on this so called greatest his such as `Estranged', `Breakdown', `Rocket Queen', `Don't Damn Me' and `Dead Horse' the songs included have no place on this CD.
2) Pointless because Guns `n' Roses only have 4 studio albums (one being a cover album, which isn't worth buying) and 1 mini album (Lies), and so therefore you are much better off just getting all these albums instead especially considering you can purchase them quite cheaply if you shop around and by doing this you will get all of their greatest songs.
Track by Track:
1) Welcome to the Jungle- 9.4/10 (Fantastic)
2) Sweet Child O' Mine- 10/10 (Amazing guitar solo)
3) Patience- 9.2/10 (Nice acoustic side to a bad ass band)
4) Paradise City- 9.8/10 (One hell of a catchy chorus and Slash is as ever kick arse on guitar)
5) Knocking on Heavens Door- 9.1/10 (Better than original)
6) Civil War- 9.9/10 (Great lyrics and fantastic guitar melodies)
7) You Could be Mine- 10/10 (Great lyrics and fantastic guitar melodies)
8) Don't Cry- 10/10 (Beautiful lyrics and great guitar solo)
9) November Rain- 10/10 (Best song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
10) Live and Let Die- 8.2/10 (Better than original but not worthy of being here)
11) Yesterday's- 8.7/10 (Good lyrics and nice funky beat)
12) Ain't it Fun- 8.4/10 (I like the attitude in the lyrics and the guitar is great as ever, but GNR have much better songs)
13) Since I Don't Have You- 4.5/10 (Decent guitar solo but that's it)
14) Sympathy for the Devil- 3/10 (Better than original but still not great)
Now although this is an amazing CD for the reasons I have already given above this is not worth buying, for a start `Estranged' isn't even here. Listen to this song and explain how Sympathy for the Devil or Since I Don't Have You are better, then you'll see my point about poor song choices. And aside from `Estranged' there are half a dozen other songs that should be on this disc and aren't. Although the rest of the songs make this 4 star album (1 star knocked off for tracks 10, 12, 13 and 14) don't bother getting this just buy the following albums.
Appetite for Destruction
Use Your Illusions 1&2
Lies
This was originally only released to whip up an interest in Guns `n' Roses again as at the time `Chinese Democracy' was supposed to get released, however suffered a delay as has happened many times now.
Amazing!, 07 Jun 2008
This is my first album from Guns and Roses and I love it!
Every track on here is one in which you can easily find yourself playing again and again!
Although I like every song on this CD, my personal favorites are the legendary "Sweet Child Of Mine" and "You Could Be Mine".
You really couldn't ask for a better G and R greatest hits CD than this, it's brilliant rock music!
A solid overview of the band and a superb introduction to a newbie fan!
Greatest Hits, sure... Best Of, no way!, 03 Feb 2008
This does what it ways on the tin, it is a compilation of GN'R's biggest hits (meaning biggest selling singles, not best songs) hence features stuff from their Spaghetti Incident LP(okay but not great) instead of stuff from when they were rather unknown like Mr Brownstone. Plus, the BAND themselves (even Axl) tried to stop this being released by Geffen when they saw the track listing. I mean, Since I Don't Have You on their greatest hits cd? Come on geffen, whatever.
Lots of their best songs were not released as singles, so don't get a look-in, such as Locomotive, Pretty Tied Up, Out Ta Get Me, Rocket Queen, the list goes on and on.
Tip: Buy Appetite for Destruction and maybe, if you really like them, Use Your Illusion one and two. Skip the greatest hits.

This best-of is loaded with the usual smash suspects plus three new cuts--the sub-Mellancamp "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", the Bed of Roses-style ballad single "Always", and a low-key remake of "Living On A Prayer" titled "Prayer '94". Love 'em or not, there's no denying the loyalty of the fans. --Jeff Bateman

One to be played over and over again!, 13 Jul 2008
Arrived yesterday and I have played it over and over, hit after hit superbly remastered and a 'must have' CD absolutely fabulous can't add anything more just buy it!
Brilliant but Pointless, 05 Jul 2008
Now I am of the opinion that greatest hits/Best of CD's should only be released at the end of a bands career and be a much larger album 2 discs minimum possibly more. The only acceptance of this is after a huge event such as the death of a band member, where you could release a best of in their memory and to show their contribution to the band. Now Bon Jovi's release is a mystery to me as there was no real reason to release one other than to make money as far as I am concerned. This doesn't mean the album is bad because every song contained is brilliant but it misses out some essential songs that within this kind of Bon Jovi release should not be left out, but there still is no point for its release. Although `Always' was released here I don't know why they didn't just save it back and put it on their next album that ended up being `These Day's' rather than on this pointless greatest hits.
There are only 2 types of people that will probably want this album
1) Hardcore fans who want `Always' as this is the album that song was released on and finding the single version will be difficult, plus the fact any real fan would want it on the real disc rather than as just a download.
2) Casual fans who just want to hear some great Bon Jovi classics but aren't to bothered about having the whole collection.
Now I bought Crossroads as my first Bon Jovi album believing that a greatest hits should show me whether they are really as good as `Living on a Prayer' had suggested, then if I really like them I could proceed to get some more albums. The album was amazing and there was not a single weak track although obviously there are songs that are stronger than others. A lot of the songs are ballads and most are based on theme around love. Some of the songs `In These Arms' and `Bed of Roses' are a bit soppy but are very good, whereas `Living on a Prayer' and `You Give Love a Bad Name' are huge rockers with powerful guitar riffs, others like `Bad Medicine' and `Lay Your Hands on Me' are more arena sounding in the sense they are more directed towards being massive during live performances and finally there are also a couple of cowboy sounding songs `Dead or Alive' and `Blaze of Glory'.
Track by track ratings out of 10
1) Living on a Prayer- 9.5
2) Keep the Faith- 10
3) Someday I'll be Saturday Night- 9.3
4) Always- 10
5) Dead or Alive- 10
6) Lay Yours Hands on Me- 8.5
7) You Give Love A Bad Name- 10
8) Bed of Roses- 10
9) Blaze of Glory- 10
10) In These Arms- 9.3
11) Bad Medicine- 7.5
12) I'll Be There For You- 9
13) In and Out Love- 7
14) Runaway- 8
15) Never Say Goodbye- 8.5
Overall this is a very good album and really opened my mind and ears to the world that is Bon Jovi but having now heard their music I know that I may as well have started out with a proper album, I recommend unless you fit into one of the above categories that I spoke about you should instead buy `Slippery When Wet' `New Jersey' or `Keep the Faith' and slowly get their studio albums instead. This is 4 stars for the content being as good as it is. The star off is because it's not really worth it plus `Dry County' isn't here probably their best song!
Best Album Ever, 21 Jan 2008
This album is simply amazing. Nothing gets you more pumped up for a night out than listening to hit after hit from the big man. I live in an apartment and on two occasions the neighbour downstairs had to call at my door to ask me to stop playing this album so loud. On the second occasion they fell asleep pushing the door bell for at least 5 minutes. To be fair it was 3 o'clock in the morning and I was pretty leathered!
Anyway, this album will bring out your air guitar playing, karaoke singing, head bashing best. A must-own...
AWESOME BON JOVI!!!!!!!!, 25 Jul 2007
I've have been a Bon Jovi fan for only a few months and already have 8 of his albums, Jon and his band certainly rock and have released awesome music over the years, many of the albums have [righty so] hit no.1, i'm now a true Bon Jovi fan.
"Crossroads" is a greatest hits album and includes just about all their best songs and all their leading chart hits, needless to say each track is a gem.
This CD has everything a newbie fan needs to build a collection around, released in 1994 this is compilation album went that went straight to no.1 in the charts and quite rightly so, this is a true greatest hits and a disc that you will play again and again once you own it. It's a perfect collection and one that i'm most proud to own and have in my vast music collection, Bon Jovi rock and i think they are now my favorite band of all time.
All their best hits are included on this disc including "Livin' On A Prayer", "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Bad Medicine" and "Bed Of Roses" etc, some of the greatest songs ever recorded in my opinion.
If i could then i'd give this CD a 10 star raiting, i fully recommened it and hope that you will decided to buy a copy sooner rather than later if you don't already own it.
Great collection, but does the order of listing let it down?, 08 Jul 2007
Years ago, I used to be a die hard Bon Jovi fan (in my teenage years when you tend to obsess about people). Since then, although I no longer listen almost exclusively to them, I still do appreciate their music and I still think that Jon has one of THE best singing voices in the business. This album was one of my favourites, and recently I have returned to it. Upon listening to it after a few years, I think I have discovered one flaw - the listing of the songs (specifically the order of the tracks).
While "Livin' on a Prayer" is a great rock song, and a great opener, by putting that right before "Keep the Faith" - another classic Bon Jovi track - they have put maybe the two best rock anthems right at the beginning, leaving little else further on in the album to encourage you to keep listening. Perhaps I am being pedantic, but I feel the whole album could have benefitted by just having these two tracks put elsewhere on the listing. If "Keep the Faith" had appeared further in, it would ceratinly have given the CD a bit of a kick in the middle.
Having said that, this album does have some of their best ballads also. Of course there is the sublime "Always" and the equally superb "In These Arms". Both of these are great to sing along to, as both are paked with the usual love and angst that often accompanies it.
All in all, this is a great CD, even today years after its original release.

I recommend this to any Queen Fan!
fabulous, 08 May 2008
i love every track in this box set! it's brilliant and a complete bargain. would definitely recommend it to people wanting to get some classics in their collection
Overblown and over the top, 07 Nov 2008
Queen are the most overrated band ever. This collection does contain the odd decent song but most songs here are trivial, soul-less, hollow and very very empty. The world's most pointless band!
QUEEN FANTASTIC CD SHAME THEY DONT DO A DOUBLE!!, 13 Sep 2008
i have the platinum collection which disc three has some good but some fillers eg remix wyclef jean version awfull truely!! and some other fillers they could easy do a double cd of queen like with pink floyd, led zeppelin, david bowie easy they could well my mam had this when i was a kid and i absoloutely loved them and still do if you like rock and dont have queen you dont have a rock collection simply!! its like if youre a soul lover not likeing aretha franklin or mahalia jackson or minnie riperton or stevie wonder etc buy this its fantastic all songs are fabalous!! happy listening
First class, 12 May 2008
Music introduced to me by my daughter. It is excellent and a worthy addition to any collection.
Fantastic, 26 Mar 2008
Ordered this CD the other day and it's great. All i can say is that you won't be dissapointed if you buy this CD. All the greatest hits and well worth the price.
Best Of, no way!, 03 Feb 2008

great for newbies, 19 Sep 2008
Before buying this album, I was familiar with the 'big' songs from it, however after a few listens i have come to appreciate the true raw talent behind it; suffice to say im very happy with the purchase!! the case was delivered with a crack however, which is not the first time from Amazon to me.
Good for starters., 21 Jul 2008
A good album if youre a casual Led Zep fan and are just getting in to them but if you want to hear the great Led Zeppelin you'll have to buy all 3 definitive Led zep cd's.
Great CD, 27 May 2008
I spent my youth in the 70's listening to Abba and Boney M. Now, in my 40's, I buy this excellent CD and realise what I missed. For others like me I recommend this album, 'Hammer of the Gods' by Stephen Davis (which tells their unbelievable story entertainingly), and videos from their gigs in the 70's from youtube.
Splendid! ..And they really do sound GREAT!!!, 27 May 2008
I can't add any more to what's already been said in earlier reviews, but I doubt that just these tracks alone have been "re-remastered". Surely the re mastering engineer will have worked on the entire catalogue, wouldn't he?
It's my hope that one day soon, these definitive 2007 re-remasterings will find their way into the traditional CD/download of the complete albums.
Wonderful TIMELESS music that hasn't really dated at all. This band could play, and play many different styles often in one album, giving real pleasure to the listener - and something to return to over thirty years plus.
Enough of this. if you still doubt that CD can "do it," then buy this and see what can be done to these old recordings.
(An LP issue of this for £70? Do leave off.....;) )
RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!
The same old song, 29 Feb 2008
If you already have Led Zeppelin CD's, especially "Remasters", then this probably is not for you as you will probably have much or all of it already.
If you have none, then this is probably the best buy for you. Two CD's of the best tracks AND a DVD. What a bargain!
I guess a Bargain or Rip-Off depends on your current collection.

Product Description
Sometimes overlooked by public and critics alike (though never American radio), this best-of confirms Thin Lizzy as one of rock's greats. Their string of hits, including the wonderful "Dancing in the Moonlight", "The Boys Are Back in Town" and "Jailbreak" remain classic music. The band deserve a place in the pantheon of Irish greats alongside U2, Van Morrison and the Cranberries. Thin Lizzy were very firmly a good-time group, perhaps strange for a bunch that emerged from both sides of Ireland in a troubled time. But with Phil Lynott's excellent vocals over heavy guitar riffs they never failed to give value for money. This is raucous hell-raising music that straddles, in leather star-spangled pants, 70s monster rock and 80s punk. The live versions are a testament to the band's fantastic live power. On stage they were in their element, spitting, fighting, shouting and singing. There's also a tinge of sadness under Thin Lizzy's feelgood, ready-for-a-rumble stomp. This was confirmed when Lynott died from a drugs overdose two years after the band folded. Tune into them yourself and find out why so many contemporary bands quote them as an influence. --Jake Barnes

i have the platinum collection which disc three has some good but some fillers eg remix wyclef jean version awfull truely!! and some other fillers they could easy do a double cd of queen like with pink floyd, led zeppelin, david bowie easy they could well my mam had this when i was a kid and i absoloutely loved them and still do if you like rock and dont have queen you dont have a rock collection simply!! its like if youre a soul lover not likeing aretha franklin or mahalia jackson or minnie riperton or stevie wonder etc buy this its fantastic all songs are fabalous!! happy listening First class, 12 May 2008
Music introduced to me by my daughter. It is excellent and a worthy addition to any collection.
Fantastic, 26 Mar 2008

All in all, this is a great CD, even today years after its original release. great for newbies, 19 Sep 2008
This is it people..., 28 May 2006
This is the compilation which defines the most criminally overlooked rock band in history. One of the greatest songwriters of the late 20th century, backed up by a troop of amazing guitarists, with Gorham, Robertson and Moore blasting out riffs and, more importantly, some of the greatest guitar solos ever throughout each song on this compilation. This band is a monolith of rock music and thankfully this compilation shows this very well.
my only quibble is that perhaps this shouldve been called 'the very best of' or something like that. In that case southbound and massacre couldve been added too, as well as the rest of the black rose album. The packaging is great also, as well as the music, and the story of lizzy is presented inside along with some great photos of the band etc, in fact the whole package is amazing.
For a new listener to thin lizzy, this album is something which is essential and which is enduring - most serious rock collections i believe should have this amongst them. Also, at such a cheap price here this would make an important addition to any collection and i honestly believe that you will enjoy this, trust me and buy it. THIN LIZZY'S GREATEST HITS, 28 Aug 2005
wowwwww!!!!!!! I never liked Thin Lizzy until this came out!! It is Phil Lyonet and Gary Moore ate their very best!!! It has live songs and some unreleased songs that you cant get on other Thin Lizzy CD's, like the song 'Whiskey in the jar'! This has is a double CD! With fantastic tracks on both CD's! Its quite cheap nowadays as well.........so dont think....just buy!!!!!!!!!!!!
no thing new, 12 Jun 2005
i like it so match and iwant you give us more in more great songs and go on in your god job
Hard-rocking Irish group of the seventies, 16 Apr 2005
Ireland seemed an unlikely place from which a group like Thin Lizzy would emerge - we all had an image of Irish music based on traditional folk and country music. Van Morrison (and his short-lived group Them) had ventured from the Emerald Isle into rock music and made a significant impact, but he seemed to be a one-off. Thin Lizzy changed all that, firmly establishing Irish rock music as a significant force . The Boomtown rats (with Bob Geldof), U2 (with Bono), the Undertones (with Feargal Sharkey), the Cranberries and many other Irish groups have followed Thin Lizzy in making a major impact on the world rock music scene. Thin Lizzy first made an impact with a hard-rocking version of a traditional Irish folk song, Whiskey in the jar - it made the UK top ten in 1973. If you've heard the song performed in a more traditional style (perhaps by the Dubliners, who typify the traditional image of Irish music), the cover by Thin Lizzy may come as a bit of a shock, but the song sounds great whether performed in a traditional way or by Thin Lizzy. However, that track wasn't really typical of their music. Thereafter, Thin Lizzy abandoned their Irish heritage altogether and focused exclusively on rocking hard but it took a while for them to establish their career. Three years after their first hit, Thin Lizzy returned to the UK top ten with The boys are back in town, which is much more typical of their sound and was the first of fifteen UK hit singles that Thin Lizzy had between 1976 and 1983, during which time they also made the UK singles chart with an EP. Only two further hits after The boys are back in town (Waiting for an alibi, Killer on the loose) made the UK top ten but several others made the UK top twenty including Don't believe a word, Dancing in the moonlight and Do anything you want. The first CD of this compilation begins with those fifteen UK hit singles between 1976 and 1983, together with their 1991 hit (Dedication) ant three other tracks. The second CD begins with Whiskey in the jar. The remainder of the second CD contains selected album tracks and some solo recordings by Phil Lynott. Overall, the second CD is not quite up to the quality of the first but it's not far behind. This is the best Thin Lizzy collection out there. If you like hard rocking music, you'll love this.
Can't wait, 21 Oct 2004
It's on it's way to me , all the way to South Africa!!!! Looks like the best compilation so far and if anyone REALLY doubts if Lizzy were the best band around in the early and late seventies, then they should have seen them at Reading....the best live album ever is Live and Dangerous...try it out.

Some of the songs `In These Arms' and `Bed of Roses' are a bit soppy but are very good, whereas `Living on a Prayer' and `You Give Love a Bad Name' are huge rockers with powerful | | |
