Product Description
These days she's fodder for tabloids and late-night comics, but way back in the 1990s Mariah Carey reigned as one of the world's bestselling female performers. This two-CD Greatest Hits collection offers up chart-topping evidence why, for better or worse, Mariah's five-octave, pop/R&B styling set the diva standard. Culled from her five albums on Sony, (before signing to Virgin), and you get all the facets of her platinum-plus sound. From the soulful smoulder of her 1990 debut "Vision of Love" (still one of her best tracks), to the coyer than thou duet with Jay Z ("Heartbreaker"), Carey thrills, trills and hits notes that only canines comprehend. Fans will gobble this collection up but inclusion of some of Carey's more adventurous remixes (eg: the Puffy produced "Fantasy", featuring ODB) might have made this package more noteworthy. --Amy Linden

A chronicled collection of all Mariah's greatest hits throughout the years, and some extra stuff thrown in on the way, i mean let's face it everyone knows that Mariah's got one of the best back catalogues of all time, and the voice to match, so it was bound to be an easy success. On this album Mariah does not miss anything out, it's all here, all 2 discs of it, the definitive collection, it highlights each albums hit singles from 1990, appropriately opening with Mariah's first single `Vision Of Love' to 1999 the 'Rainbow' era, so basically you get the 90s Mariah. Product Description
M!ssundaztood is the follow-up to Pink's platinum selling debut. On Can't Take Me Home Pink established herself as one of the biggest R&B/pop acts of 2000; a status she later confirmed by stealing the limelight from fellow divas-with-attitude Missy Elliott, Mya and Christina Aguilera on their No. 1 cover of "Lady Marmalade". M!ssundaztood, however, reveals an ambition that extends far beyond the massed ranks of R&B's feisty female fraternity. Pink wants to be a pop star, pure and simple. Consequently, as well as the tried and tested R&B groove of first single "Get The Party Started" and funky hip-hop of "Respect", she adds a random yet brilliant selection of full-blown radio rock ("18 Wheeler", "Numb"), sassy pop ("M!ssundaztood") and emotionally charged laments ("Dear Diary", "Family Portrait", "Eventually"). Stylistically confused as it is- "Misery", a woozy bar room blues duet with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler is perhaps the most out of character--with some great tunes and a voice just as capable of fragile emotion as it is attitude, she somehow manages to pull it off. --Dan Gennoe

in my opinion this is the best of all the pink albums there is, "im not dead" is very good too, but this one is so cool and every single on of the songs is brilliant! pink is so cool! Excellent from Pink, 05 Aug 2006
On its release this was one of the most popular pop albums of 2002 and its easy to see why.
With the combination of a variety of pop songs, P!nk established herself as the most successful female solo artist of 2002 with this fantastic follow up album to her first solo album `Can't take me home' which was good but not a patch on this one.
The album sold magnificently, 16 million people world wide recognized the singer's talents and purchased the second album of her career, outselling her debut album by 13 million, proving she has established herself as a dominant solo artist in the pop music industry.
The excellent variety adds a greater aspect of taste for the listener. Viewers have the chance to listen to the very party pop song `Get the party started' which was unluckily denied number 1. The song focuses upon Pink going out and having a good time with her friends, viewers will be able to associate with the poppy music and be able to dance with the upbeat rhythm and stylish lyrics.
We have the very affecting `Family Portrait' where Pink changes her choice of singing and goes for very emotional issues about her parents fighting and her desperation for them to resolve their problems so that they can live peacefully as a family. Undeservedly entering at 11 in the U.K. charts the song is slow and Pink sings beautifully to capture the essence of the song.
Pink's first number 1 single came with this album, `Just like a pill' and the artist worked so hard to gain her first smash audiences were extremely happy for her. The song itself focuses upon many love issues as the artist sings about someone causing her pain and the effects it has had upon her. A very slow beat captured by an upbeat chorus adds to a great listen for anyone.
There are many great slow songs including: `Dear Diary' `Gone to California' and `Eventually'
But Pink also includes party pop style songs such as '18 wheeler' and `Respect'
Collaborating with established artists such as Linda Perry and Steven Tyler created even more influential pop music and raised the rising star's status as a now established singer.
This album creates passion for the listener with slow songs but overall creates a very upbeat mood as audiences can appreciate the moods the singer is experiencing. The party songs add a great aspect of Pink's life to her album and audiences have a choice of different styles to listen to.
It's a great album and definitely worth purchasing. Outstanding, 03 Oct 2005
I also realise this album was released years ago but its that good it compelled me to write a review. Can't Take Me Home was aimed at a totally different demographic than Misunderstood, reason being that Pink took control of her career and proved LaFace she could make it as a Rock artist. Misunderstood is an outstanding and compelling album, delving into the depths of Pinks emotion, tearing apart every misconception and allowing the listener to feel the songs with raw emotion, something which is rare in music at the moment. Teaming up with one of the best song writers and producers in modern music Linda Perry (of 4NonBlondes and Christina Agruleria's Stripped album)Pink managed to deliver one of the most amazing albums of the past 5 or 10 years. The album combines numerous sorts songs that include describing Pinks childhood and upbringing, such as Family Portrait and My Vietnam. Describing her rise to fame Don't Let Me Get Me and 18 Wheeler. It also contains a few party tracks, just to keep those who conform happy with Get The Party Started and Respect, none the less they are totally owned by Pink. This was one of the biggest selling albums of the released year and a massive album for pink in terms of success and gaining respect. I've got to be honest, whilst the girl is using her head and reinventing herself Try This (her follow up album) just doesn't even compare and lacks the compassion and time that went into Misunderstood...it also showed in her tours...the Misunderstood tour was intimate and amazing whilst the Try This tour was an arena tour, and whilst excellent it just didn't touch the intimate gig for avid Pink fans. Anyhow, buy this outstanding album, its a must have for any CD collection! Absolutely 5/5 (hopefully she'll hook up with her idol Linda Perry again)!!!! i know it's old.., 09 Sep 2005
Yes this album was released years and years ago, but a few minutes ago I realised how you really define great music. The fact that I was able to put this CD - which I got at least 2 or 3 years ago - on and love it just as much as i did then surely shows it's an album you must have! I listened to it constantly after I bought it but lately it's been a bit pushed aside by all the other new CD's I've purchased. But Pink's second album has proved itself to me - it never goes out of date. Songs like the beautiful Eventually and Lonely Girl are still just as good, Just Like A Pill is equally catchy and Misery, probably my surprise favourite of the album, still blows me away with its fantastic melody (it's a duet with Stephen Tyler.) If you like Try This but haven't got this album then buy it, I don't know if it's better but it's DEFINITELY as good! absalutly brilliant, 02 Nov 2004

Product Description
She's been hailed for her multi-octave vocal range--a tool that sometimes detracts from her pop recordings, but actually works quite beautifully in the context of this charming holiday collection. Fans will surely approve of Carey's renditions of slinky secular songs like "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)" and a nicely subdued "All I Want for Christmas Is You". But where she really surprises is in her unadorned delivery of traditional carols, highlighted by "Silent Night" (which she sings quietly, avoiding the temptation to wail those high notes) and "Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child". Merry Christmas is a must for die-hards and a pleasant surprise for the unconverted. --David Sprague

I saw this and already have it but I just wanted to say that out of all the artists that have released their Christmas album - this one by Lady Mariah Carey is the BEST to date. Also, because it's 14 years old it's really cheap. So - buy the BEST Christmas album as the bargain of the century.

Oh, Christmas! This is a novelty album, but in its wake amazing! Good for Christmas, especially if you are ating christmas dinner! the full range and beauty of her voice, 17 Feb 2007
Most traditional christmas songs are sung in a traditional way and have survived for so long because they sound so good. For a pop star to come along and make many of them sound even better is quite a feat but that is what Mariah Carey has done here. The full range and beauty of her voice are on display on this cd - when you listen to O Holy Night and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen ask yourself this:is there anyone else in the world who could sing these this well? Only bettered by the christmas cd "christmas through your eyes" by gloria estefan.Christina Aguilera has a great voice but on her christmas cd the vocals are too jazzy and bluesy and she tends to show off her voice rather than show off the song. And celine dion's christmas cd lacks punch and the range of sound is not great. However the last five songs on celine's cd are worth hearing. A Christmas Album That Works Outside The Festive Season Also, 04 Jul 2005
Festive albums seem like a time-stalling process, however not every artist that releases one can claim it sold 16 million copies. Merry Christmas was another success from the legendary Miss Mariah. Aside from the expected covers of classics, which she manages to do brilliantly, Carey creates some of her own Christmas masterpieces. The up-tempo plea of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" and beautiful portrayal of isolated emotions in "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)" are enough to weigh up the various feelings of the holiday, but nothing compares to her own true Christmas signature song "All I Want For Christmas Is You", capturing the true energy of the festive spirit. Her vocals are not all shed for fun and games with her true range being explored on the hymn, "O Holy Night". An absolutely wonderful Christmas album, 01 Feb 2005
Few commercial Christmas albums really appeal to me - too many of them mangle the traditional classics I love, especially the hymns, with all sorts of fancy modern sounds that ring hollow to my ears, and, loving the traditional songs so much, few modern Christmas tunes manage to win me over. Ten years after its release, though, Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas CD remains a perennial Christmas favorite of mine. Mariah's vocal talent puts her head and shoulders above every female vocalist out there, and she injects true feeling and spirit into every song she sings. On this album, she combines the new with the old, making this a Christmas CD that almost everyone can love. Like many, I was drawn to this CD after hearing the song All I Want For Christmas Is You; I believe it's the best secular Christmas song since Elvis' Blue Christmas. I had to buy the album for this one song alone, but I was also very anxious to hear what Mariah would do with traditional hymns such as Oh Holy Night - my pick for the greatest Christmas song ever written. Many a soprano shies away from truly hitting the high notes at the end of Oh Holy Night, and given Mariah's vocal range, I felt confident she would do the song justice. I was right, as this is one of the best versions of Oh Holy Night I've ever heard. Mariah's voice is equally angelic on Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and a properly subdued Silent Night. Jesus Oh What A Wonderful Child is a song I was less familiar with, but it makes for a stunning conclusion to an album that does pay real heed to the reason for the season. Besides All I Want For Christmas Is You, Mariah co-wrote two other songs on the album: Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) and Jesus Born on This Day. The latter is an especially beautiful song that expresses the true meaning of Christmas. She also throws in an exceedingly fun version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town (and, thankfully, I can now think of Mariah rather than Bruce Springsteen whenever I hear this song). The perfect complement to All I Want For Christmas Is You, though, is Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Put it all together and you have a true modern Christmas classic featuring a wonderful mix of religious and secular songs that radiate both the fun as well as the serious aspects of the Christmas season. Anyone who loves Christmas - and Christmas music in particular - really should make this CD an annual part of his/her holiday celebration.

Product Description
Linda Ronstadt was America's sweetheart of the 1970s, because she was able to combine a pretty face, a pretty voice and a safe personality. Her songs might be full of big notes and high emotions, but they satisfied every predictable expectation of a love ballad or good-time rocker. Mariah Carey is America's sweetheart of the 1990s for the exact same reasons. Music Box topped the charts, yielding number-one singles like "Dreamlover" and "Hero." The titles, one a hollow Minnie Riperton knock-off and the other a stiff Barbra Streisand imitation, are tip-offs to Carey's reliance on untethered fantasy (she's the fantasizer in the lyrics and the fantasy object in the videos). These songs, co-written and co-produced like most of the album by Walter Anasieff and Carey herself, are constructed to show off her dizzying soprano, not to provide an original approach to a well-worn subject. Even when she gets a strong ballad to sing, like her current singles--Babyface's "Never Forget You" or Badfinger/Nilsson's "Without You"--she overdoes the self-pity bit so much that the song loses its dramatic tension. --Geoffrey Himes

Why can't britain have music like this?? The Definitive Mariah Collection - Defiantly One To Own., 03 May 2008
A chronicled collection of all Mariah's greatest hits throughout the years, and some extra stuff thrown in on the way, i mean let's face it everyone knows that Mariah's got one of the best back catalogues of all time, and the voice to match, so it was bound to be an easy success. Overall it's just really inspiring music, that you'll want to listen to for years to come.

in my opinion this is the best of all the pink albums there is, "im not dead" is very good too, but this one is so cool and every single on of the songs is brilliant! pink is so cool!
Songs like the beautiful Eventually and Lonely Girl are still just as good, Just Like A Pill is equally catchy and Misery, probably my surprise favourite of the album, still blows me away with its fantastic melody (it's a duet with Stephen Tyler.) If you like Try This but haven't got this album then buy it, I don't know if it's better but it's DEFINITELY as good! absalutly brilliant, 02 Nov 2004
brilliant album, great songs especially just like the pill and don't let me get me.don't stop playing it The BEST Christmas album to date, 02 Nov 2008

This is a album by Mariah, which shows her focusing more on ballads than uptempo pieces. From the beautifulness of "Dreamlover" and "Hero" to the sweetness of "Music Box", this is an unforgettable album!
A Flawless Album That Certainly Had Universal Appeal., 21 Jun 2008
`Music Box' was Mariah Carey's 3rd album, it was the last album of Carey's that did not include a single collaboration or guest, as well as being one of the biggest selling albums in music history, the only reason for this could be the 3 chart toping singles it produced, including the killer record breaking ballad `Hero', what also sold this album was the fact it had universal appeal, meaning you wouldn't have to be a huge Mariah Carey fan to own it, as you could appreciate it for it's more mainstream `pop' sound.
The quality of the material on this album is excellent, but if I had to choose, my personal favourites would have to be the very gospel inspired `Anytime You Need A Friend', a theme or genre that Carey would later use again on songs such as `Fly Like A Bird' from 2005's `The Emancipation Of Mimi`, `Without You', the sultry and soothing `Music Box', `Just To Hold You Once Again' and `All I've Ever Wanted`.
Overall i really could not fault a single song on here, they all have nice melody's and fantastic hooks, the ballads are true ballads with amazing vocals, same goes for the more upbeat songs, in my opinion the whole album could have been made into singles, and you really can't make that statement about many albums, although i think this album has slightly too much of the commercial 'pop' mainstream factor rather than depth, it's still a real pleasure too listen to time and time again.
Vintage Mariah Carey, 10 Jan 2008
Vintage Mariah Carey. Beautiful ballards - the ones we know and love like Hero and can't live, but these were not actually my favourites, some of the less successful singles like anytime you need a friend, and then songs which were not even released as singles were even more beautiful like music box, just to hold you once again, all I've ever wanted and even the bonus track everything fades away. This is the biggest selling mariah carey album to date and was around the time when I really got into Mariah seriously, I had emotions and really liked that but this was the one that got me hooked but having said that it's not my favourite album give me butterfly any day. Still an amazing album though. I give it 4 stars only because Mariah has made better albums and therefore I must distinguish this by giving these 5 stars.
Carey's biggest commercial success, 31 Mar 2007
The first 3 songs are very good namely Dreamlover, Hero and Anytime You Need A Friend. This was her biggest commercial success and possibly her best ever album. My personal favourite is Hero,
The voice of an angel, 05 Aug 2005
Mariah Carey truly has the voice of an angel. Never in a million years did I think possible, a singer would ever have a voice as good as this. There is not a word in the dictionary to describe the sensational vocal ability she is capable of. Her voice sends a shiver down my spine, it's unbelievable. My favourite songs on the album are: Hero, Without you, and All I've ever wanted. This album truly is amazing and has not left my cd player since the day I bought it.

Product Description
Common wisdom dictates that a debut album be given an autobiographical slant, so it's hard not to believe that Justified, Justin Timberlake's first non-*N Sync outing, doesn't purloin much of its subject matter from the singer's break-up with Britney Spears. Half of the songs are about the abrupt severing of a romance and the singer's rather hardhearted stance. Sure he may have been the wronged party, but that doesn't excuse the inflexible emotional posture revealed in "Cry Me a River", "Never Again", and the sniping "Last Night". He also appears to feel warranted in partaking in the salubrious joys of a swinging single life then boasting about it, since many of the songs seem to be almost gratuitously lascivious. Lines such as "I could think of a couple positions for you" from "Right for Me", and "Better have you naked by the end of this song" from "Rock Your Body" will catapult Timberlake right off Radio Disney. But Timberlake shines when he moonwalks into more adult terrain, turning his back on the innocent dance-pop that put *N Sync in the charts. With the help of hip-hop producers the Neptunes, Timbaland and P Diddy, Timberlake has turned out a remarkably cohesive and sophisticated slice of radio-friendly R&B. --Jaan Uhelszki

[3.5]-The album is pretty entertaining- not colorless at all, 04 Jul 2007
I have to say that, for a debut album, it's not bad - he's got a few really good tracks in here. Justin's Pop roots was pulled out then replaced with R&B and light hip-hop. Some of the songwriting is downright corny lyrically but several of the songs were well done by the Neptunes and Timbaland, they made this album more than Justin.
The ballads are not that great to me but the dance tracks are well done. The tracks that stand out to me are "Cry Me a River", "Rock Your Body", "Senorita", "Last Night", "Still On My Brain", "What You Got (Oh No)", and "Let's Take a Ride".
Another drawback to this album is Justin Timberlake vocal pitch. In almost every song that he performed and sang, I felt as though he was searching for some form of range within his style throughout this album. He obviously had overdone the Michael Jackson-y stuff a bit much. As other reviewers have said, many of the tracks do have that trademark "Off The Wall"/"Thriller" sounds to them. Hopefully, Justin will phase out of that and found his own sound; even if it is a mixture as long he shows some form of originality. Justin Timberlake has a lot of talent and creativity and I hope he keeps up the effort.
`Justified' is a versatile production and arrangements that works extremely well and appeals to a lot of listeners. Justin had proved to be the best bet for success amongst the boy band stream and with that, I'm definitely interested in hearing his future release in order to see if he'd actually worked on those mention setbacks.
Pretty Good, 03 Sep 2005
This album, I think is a pretty good collection of hits, everyone knows the main ones, such as "Cry Me A River", "Rock Your Body", "Like I love you" and "Senorita". It's also pretty interesting to listen to when you find out that 12 of these tracks were written for Michael Jackson
I was surprised - it's actually a good album!, 05 Apr 2005
I have finished listening to 'Justified' by the wonderful Justin Timberlake. I am surprised with this, it's actually a really nice album to listen to. Almost all the songs are well sung by him. I love the piano ballad never again and seems to be written to Britney Spears. Saying how much she'd broken his heart and would never forgive her and when you listen to the lyrics you can feel what his saying. I love the song 'still on my brain' which I believe is to Britney too. There real nice ballads. I also love the tracks 'Like I love you' 'rock your body' and 'last night' those r n b dancy tracks. This is a great effort from Justin well done!
Fantastic, 25 Jan 2005
Like many other music fans, I approached this album with apprehension, in a kind of 'hide it underneath another more trendy CD at the music shop' way. However what I found when I listened to this album, was not a slice of inoffensive bubblegum pop, but a cool and funky piece of work. The Michael Jackson comparisons are to be expected, as the vocal style and, to a certain extent, the delivery are similar. However let us not get caught up in unfair comparisons, this is the work of a strong pop artist in his own right. The opener, Senorita, is a storming introduction. It is everything a pop song should be, toe tapping, heavy beats, sing-a-long choruses, and very cool. The pop belters keep coming, with the single 'Like I Love You' and '(Oh No) What You Got', both soulful pop songs, and both genuinley good tracks. Many have said the album is autobiographical, and on tracks like 'Cry Me A River' and 'Last Night' the sly digs at former love Britney Spears are frequent, however Justin seems to be taking the break up well, as the other half of the albums songs are upbeat odes to the joys of singledom, lines like "gonna have you naked by the end of this song" are performed with such a confidence you genuinely believe him. The standard of the tracks don't decline towards the end of the album, 'Right For Me' has a strong funky groove, and which could of made it as a single. This is a must have pop album, a positive step away from his N*Sync days, and even if you consider yourself too much of a serious music fan to buy this album, you wont be disappointed, this is pop at its very best.
Did not live up to the expetations, 12 Jan 2005
I am sure that there was a lot of hype about this album, but hype for all the wrong reasons, the hype there was when Brad made Troy, it was all people's opinions of Justin TImberlake and not what his music would actually sound like. The result is a disappointing album which has been overly praised and does not live up to the hype that was made about it. This album for me does not live up to its expectations, although i never expected this to be the case as people had great expectations of Justin Timberlake. Other than the singles, this is a poor album. There are numerous songs which are dragged out for far too long. There isn't really much flow, nor is there any consistancy in this album. This is not purely a critical review, despite the numerous flaws, there still are signs of potential; Justin timberlake could be a successful music star for the music he makes but he has yet to achieve this on his own.

Product Description
Mariah Carey's #1's is as much a time capsule of 1990s pop and R&B as a record of one woman's chart toppers: the disc chronicles a shift from the sweet, nearly '50s-style "Vision of Love" to more recent hip-hop-lite grooves featuring heavy input from Puffy Combs ("Honey"), Jermaine Dupri ("Sweetheart"), and O.D.B. ("Fantasy"). Some hit, some miss, but all feature the fluttery swoops that Carey substitutes for expression of feeling. Depth is beside the point, but few of these tracks are even fun. Still, after eight years, there seems to be no stopping her, and this album will hardly break her streak of successes. --Rickey Wright

Overall it's just really inspiring music, that you'll want to listen to for years to come.

in my opinion this is the best of all the pink albums there is, "im not dead" is very good too, but this one is so cool and every single on of the songs is brilliant! pink is so cool!

I give it 4 stars only because Mariah has made better albums and therefore I must disti | | |
